@theyrestanzos @conorsen I would question if there ever has been an American Democratic System. It has always been a republic. A republic that has had *huge* moments where it became more democratic but still a republic nonetheless.

@conorsen I think you may be conflating the American economy being in decline (which, as you know, it is not), with the American Democratic System, which clearly is.

There have been times when I thought America was in decline (the 2000’s mostly), but I don’t think this election reflects an America in decline. Things are pretty good in a lot of ways, we’re just stuck dealing with an election not reflective of where most Americans are.
