@AmandaMGoetz Saw a glimpse (the start) of your previous tweet, right before saw it was deleted. So glad you came back to clarify and not just rescind. Have heard that cold, hard truth stated before (by other courageous women), think it’s tremendously important to both recognize & discuss. 🙏

Woke up to a lot of hate about my co-parenting tweet. Let me be super clear: I would never wish my situation on anyone. Not having access to my kids half the time is the hardest thing. But let me also share that being responsible for 5 humans, a job, a dog and a house 24/7 was too much and almost broke me. When I talk about co-parenting for married couples, I don’t mean not seeing your kids. I mean dividing the mental load of caretaking. Many times the mental load of school, activities, schedules, play dates, doctors, meals, groceries, homework, etc falls on the mom. In my case, it did. Co-parenting is the act of dividing this up intentionally - two primary parents. When my kids are with their dad he HAS to know all of this stuff. I’m not there. And when the mental load is shared, my brain can be freed up to create and build. Co-parenting for married couples doesn’t mean not seeing your kids. It means being able to enjoy them without the to-do list hanging over your head. And yes, many of my hate DMs came from men.

@AmandaMGoetz This is great, really appreciate the detailed outline too. Mine are 13, 11, and 9, so yes - sports / activities do throw some of this on its head, but still some ways to build in structure and the time blocking just as critical.

My kids are 9 / 7 / 6 so I understand things like activities, sports, play dates and other things will affect this But sharing as the framework helped me immensely over the past 6 years as a single mom.

Do you dread weekends as a parent? Feel the struggle of balancing - alone time - time with kids - time with partner - being “adult” productive (getting non work things done)? After 10 years as a parent and 6 years as a single mom I’ve figured it out…..feel free to steal. ⬇️

@APatelThompson Love the idea of social math! My advice - make it fun / problem solving. Once they see themselves as detectives solving problems, it changes and they’ll view it differently. Logic puzzles and @MathOlympiads are great for this.

Ugh - my 10yo daughter is entering that phase of "I don't like math/not good at it", w/ her friends feeding it. Too bad that's not an option in our fam 🤣 We're brainstorming weekly playdates to make it "social math" Any ideas of exercises/activities/approaches we could take?

Rather than trying to find yourself I suggest you go create yourself. It’s okay if it takes time and many iterations to get to the version you’re dreaming of.

@LindaMLian Oh I love this! I would say you could add additional teams to this, as well. Product & development, for sure, also corp strategy or biz dev. Such a great way for all divisions to start thinking (to recognize their strengths AND their gaps to identify where they could partner)

I’m laying in bed upstairs eavesdropping on my husband tell my parents downstairs about how hard I’ve worked to build my career. And so my 4 girls will grow up hearing their dad be proud of their mom for her work. If only every little girl had that privilege. We are lucky.
