Respectfully, Dallas has one of the best and most famous players in the WNBA. Drafting her romantic partner with the No. 1 pick is a unique and newsworthy basketball story that impacts team building dynamics. Doesn’t strike me as a “none of your business” situation.

@JamG_91 @klisekenny @robinlundberg Maybe that speaks to their lack of faith in those bigs in the draft. Minnesota is a well run franchise and in need of all positions and they also passed on both bigs. If there was a generational big in this draft we might be having a different conversation.

1) This is a justifiable question given the context.
2) Awful PR decision. Give her a stock reply (“we’ll handle ourselves as pros; team will always come first, etc”) and then you can fall back on “we’ve already addressed this” the next time it’s asked. Pretty basic.

@AnnieCostabile Nah, the best way to get something to go away is almost always to just ignore it and let people latch on to the next big story. Also, if the team plays well it will naturally cause all the speculation to die down as well.

I understand the efforts from Dallas Wings PR to mitigate a potentially uneasy line of questions/storyline. However, by not allowing Azzi to answer the question this only makes it a bigger story.

@EricSmi11284735 I’m going to have to go through all the rosters fully, but my initial impression is that the Wings might be a playoff team or might just miss the playoffs. Like you said, they’ll be better, but maybe not Top 8 yet. Definitely not Top 5.

I’ll be very curious to see how Paige, Arike, and Azzi all fit together. Obviously, Fudd doesn’t need to be ball dominant to have a large impact. It should be fun to see how they balance it all together. The Wings also bet big on Alanna Smith taking her game to a higher level.
