@DanPriceSeattle Pay varies widely across the country. In some states, they are paid decently. I support federal minimums adjusted for cost of living to equalize it. But I also don’t think teachers should compare their pay to people who work through the summer.

About 20% of teachers work second jobs during the school year, and they're often working retail or driving Lyft even with a master's degree because of the hours. Part of the reason is that they pay a higher tax rate than billionaires or corporations edsurge.com/news/2022-03-3…

@DanPriceSeattle Taught middle school for 7 years with a masters +30 hours, I had 5 part time jobs for my 2nd/3rd year: teaching adult education classes Tue-Thur 6-10, rehab center high school Fri night/Sat morn, basketball ref Mon night/Sat rest of the day, Domino's pizza delivery, side bus.

Could not agree more. Why are we funding billionaires' every whim when income inequality is almost as bad as it has ever been. We need to end guilded age 2.0 by passing a wealth tax along with a financial transactions tax.
