A rain-induced balk and hit pitch is why you don’t send Connor Wong. No guarantee either of those things happen with Wong on their, but the risk was unnecessary in these conditions

The Red Sox are looking for a right-handed hitter, but as rival execs note, it's a really tough fix to make it on the fly. There are very few options available for a legit RH hitter this early unless you are willing to overpay, and assuming it's a 2B or 3B, then the FO will have to wave the white flag to some degree with Durbin, who was such an important part of the FO vision.

@tylermilliken_ @ChrisCotillo Mother Nature has other ideas. And the Twins can't play a makeup on Monday because they're in Chicago, so if the Red Sox don't move Mayer to SS tomorrow, the earliest they can do it will probably be Tuesday.

Carlos Narvaez always asks the umpire to check his swing. The umpire doesn’t have to honor it, but if he’s not rung up by the home plate ump, there’s really no reason to check. Best case scenario is that first base says he didn’t swing, and home plate already didn’t call him out

Ceddanne is chasing less, but he's also just swinging less. A huge .360 BABIP is helping his numbers, as well. His swing rate on pitches over the heart of the plate is down 10%. Swinging at the cookies while continuing to lay off the waste pitches is the next step.
