@JakeAndTheSwan@GingerGano I suspect folks have a reason for their dishonesty or ignorance, moral or not. But is a dishonest test the mechanism for which to judge them?
I agree that it would be nice to track the virus, but the measures instituted over the last year have done nothing to minimize the spread.
@Dallastheokie@GingerGano The fault isn’t strictly with the employer. They must be this way because people are often dishonest. The testing is helpful to track progress in a pandemic. We can track progress with prevention methods and make informed decisions to possibly save lives. What is the alternative?
@JakeAndTheSwan@GingerGano So, your argument is with employers lack of trust with employees honesty? People will inevitably come in contact with any virus and they won't know. They might have antibodies or be immune, they might not. How is a test going to make society better?
@Dallastheokie@GingerGano The point about cost is valid. I am fortunate in my area because the health department does PCR tests for free regardless of insurance. Your point is solid for some places, like your locale, but not everywhere. Could the problem be the mgmt of testing and not the test itself?
@JakeAndTheSwan@GingerGano For my locale the PCR test is the main diagnostic tool, it is fraught with inconsistencies and unreliable results. It does greater harm to society in terms of stress, anxiety and dictating individuals economic necessities. Additionally, the costs for such a test are unjustifiable
@Dallastheokie@GingerGano There is also the problem of most employers not allowing employees to stay home because they think they might be infected and contagious. That’s not a even a CV problem. It’s after you have come to work and displayed symptoms or received a positive test that they let you go home
@JakeAndTheSwan@GingerGano This is a poor strawman argument. If you suspect you have CV via contact you should stay home, as we historically have done in flu-like seasons. Shitty & self-centered is demanding people take an unreliable test.
Sadly, you have formulated an opinion of me without facts.
@Dallastheokie@GingerGano If I suspect I have Covid due to contact with another who does, but I continue about my business without getting tested, am I not putting others at risk due to my negligence? Regardless of how threatening the virus is, that’s a shitty, self-centered decision to make for others.
@GingerGano No. It does nothing for an individual, it’s not a diagnostic tool, it doesn’t give you additional access to medicine or therapies. It’s merely a propaganda tool for the state.
