@JakeLebahn Absolutely. They pray for that opportunity. Winning a game is a huge achievement in a tournament that is set up for them to fail. Not to mention that play in game and winning it are massive pay days for those small conferences. It’s a very fair trade

Winning or losing a 1st four game shouldn't count as a ncaa win or loss. Only if you make the big 64 team bracket should it count on your record.

@JetCastJackson Keep format the same. Doesn't matter. Its eventually gonna get bigger anyways. I just think its bogus to count a win against a 16 seed when you are a 16 seed. So if a school hasn't ever won an ncaa tourney game. Hope ya get the 16 seed play in game. Better chance of winning.

@JakeLebahn Your issue is with the tournament format not with teams winning games.

@JetCastJackson Howard and PVAM go 1-1 this year for their tourney record? Texas gets a win and it counts as they beat another 11 seed? Nope. Not to me. If Texas beats BYU. You bet. That's a win. An 11 doesn't play an 11 in the other two regions to get a win.

@JetCastJackson So the 2 different 16 seeds get a win in the tournament playing another 16 seed while the other 16 seeds dont get one cause they play a 1 seed? That isn't fair. Its a cheap win for the record books. You shouldn't get a win nor a loss if you play the same seed in opening round.

@becripps They won't ever make it like D1. So make it as good as you can with region play. At least then you dont get conference vs conference right out of the gate. Still saves some money as well. So frustrating

I think there are plenty of good ways to do it, but @JakeLebahn's idea I think is the simplest and still preserves some pseudo-regionalization - combining two regions and seeding 1-16 and then breaking up the tournament into two sites from there. Not sure why DII doesn't try it.

Yearly reminder that d2 basketball is run by idiots who think regionalism is the way to go. It isnt hard to fix it. Combine 2 regions. Seed them 1-16. Then play them as 2 seperate regions like you do now. There. Your done. No need to pay me.
