UConn got their guy when they landed Jason Candle as Head Coach. This was actually one of the most underrated coaching hires of 2025. Candle went 81-44 at Toledo, with 8 Bowl Appearances and ZERO losing seasons. Candle made a big splash right away for UConn by signing the BEST RECRUITING CLASS EVER In Program History by AVG Recruit Ranking in just a few weeks on the job. The 85.41 AVG is 0.6 points higher than the 2025 class and 2.35 points higher than the 2024 class. This class doesn't have any 4 stars but it's loaded with impressive 3 stars who could develop into elite players. 3 star CB Shmar Akande is a ball hawk, 3 star LB Jayden Jones is a tackling machine and 3 star TE Jackson Mangham is a massive red zone threat at 6'7. An under the radar player to keep at eye on is 3 star ATH Zikhere Leaks. Coach Candle is off to an impressive start before even coaching a game.
