In the past, AD’s followed the traditional ladder of fundraising. The next wave of AD’s will be coming from places you wouldn’t expect: Private equity, professional sports, consulting, law, and more traditional brand & corporate backgrounds. The revenue & associated risk with mismanaging that revenue demands innovation- something that athletic departments have typically shied away from historically.
Brock Hudgens@brockhudg

College athletic departments should have a Chief Innovation Officer. Someone whose only job is asking: “How should college sports work in 2035?” Right now nobody owns the future.

SMU transfer wide receiver Lance Beeghley has committed to Iowa football. The former 3-star recruit did not appear in game action across two seasons with the Mustangs: hawkcentral.com/story/sports/c…

@RossDellenger @petenakos seems like it’s more than just walk ons that are going to be eligible. Are you seeing/ hearing something different?

A reminder: An athlete is eligible to be placed on a DSA list if he/she (1) would have been removed from the school's 2025-26 roster due to new roster limits; (2) was an eligible member of a team in 2024-25; (3) was recruited & assured by a school of a 2025-26 roster spot.

There is a new, one-time transfer portal window. NCAA Committee on Legislative Relief has issued a waiver to permit athletes who schools place on “Designated Student-Athlete” lists to enter the portal July 7-Aug. 5. DSAs are grandfathered-in athletes exempt from roster limits.

It’s dangerous to take this bold of a move when your father is your representative. I hope Nico has fully assessed the potential short-term and long-term consequences. Having a seasoned agent and lawyer on his side would help. Let’s see what happens. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Sources: Tennessee is moving on from starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Tennessee coach Josh Heupel informed the team of the decision at a team meeting this morning. Iamaleava missed meetings and practice on Friday, which was the driver of this decision.

FIU football player Marquez Tatum alleges a systematic administrative failure following his injury, claiming the university obstructed his medical redshirt waiver and jeopardized his collegiate athletic career. FIU must be held accountable.

We have retained @heitner to pursue all legal remedies as it pertains to our client, Marquez Tatum, and his treatment by the FIU athletic department. The alleged actions/inactions of FIU as it relates to Marquez are outrageous and can not be tolerated. FAIR Sports takes pride in not only promoting its players, but also protecting them from the injustices that occur in College Sports today, like those alleged in the statement below. Thank you Darren for all you do and for helping Marquez fight for his eligibility.

@heitner What’s hilarious about this is I guarantee you Shaka Smart has a few agents he works through to tamper with other teams players. He just got burned by one and now he wants to take his ball and go home.

I have no problem with a coach complaining about specific agent practices. However, coaches should never intentionally interfere with contractual relationships between athletes and agents. It presents a legal issue and will hurt the program. Not smart, Shaka!
Daniel Roberts@readDanwrite

Shaka Smart has been refusing to negotiate with player agents, @dpyoung13 reports. @heitner told @FOS there's “0% chance” any other top-25 program does this, and adds that refusing to deal with a player’s existing agent could raise legal issues. frontofficesports.com/shaka-smart-ma…

Coaches, please ensure players and their parents know what to include in their HUDL highlight reels. From my discussions with college coaches evaluating safeties, these are the key skill traits they prioritize.

How $800k “NIL deals” could work Post-House: Total Comp for OL = $800k • $500k rev-share, x% cap. Not subject to clearinghouse • $300k NIL deals. $20k • 15 microdeals, across multiple entities, each submitted to clearinghouse. Cap strategy will be very important for GMs.
Matt Brown@MattBrownEP

I think South Carolina AD Jeremiah Donati is correct here, which makes forecasting the "future of NIL" so difficult, IMO. If the FMV enforcement has any real teeth (and survives legal challenge) there's gonna be a big market reset on3.com/teams/south-ca…
