College athletic departments should have a Chief Innovation Officer. Someone whose only job is asking: “How should college sports work in 2035?” Right now nobody owns the future.

Seen a lot of blame for “the agents” in the Nico/Tennessee situation. The truth? If he’d had a pro agent instead of dad and friend, this probably gets handled quietly in December. Instead, it’s a mess. And Nico is now looking for a real agent. on3.com/news/nico-iama…

Sources: Tennessee is moving on from starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Tennessee coach Josh Heupel informed the team of the decision at a team meeting this morning. Iamaleava missed meetings and practice on Friday, which was the driver of this decision.

Shaka Smart has been refusing to negotiate with player agents, @dpyoung13 reports. @heitner told @FOS there's “0% chance” any other top-25 program does this, and adds that refusing to deal with a player’s existing agent could raise legal issues. frontofficesports.com/shaka-smart-ma…

Well done here by @RJ_cfb. As detailed a look at NIL contracts as I’ve seen. cbssports.com/college-footba…

FSU AD Michael Alford and USF AD Michael Kelly are in Jacksonville at the Florida Board of Governors meeting to ask for a change in state law to allow institutional support of athletic depts, to help with rev share. Currently, athletics depts in the state must be self sustaining.

The Collective Association, a group of donor collective directors, is meeting next week in Washington, DC. More than 45 collective leaders will gather to discuss the House settlement and their own collective bargaining proposal. TCA has meetings scheduled with lawmakers as well.

I think South Carolina AD Jeremiah Donati is correct here, which makes forecasting the "future of NIL" so difficult, IMO. If the FMV enforcement has any real teeth (and survives legal challenge) there's gonna be a big market reset on3.com/teams/south-ca…
