The allegations made against me are false, malicious, and dangerous. I came to Lebanon as a freelance journalist. On my second day in the country, I briefly worked with MintPress for about a week before returning to freelance reporting. Before crossing Saida, I obtained clearance from Lebanese Army Intelligence, under clearance number 108, as journalists covering the south are required to do. When my status as a journalist was checked, I presented the documents and press identification requested of me. Following the defamatory accusations and the incitement that put my life at risk, I filed a formal complaint at Makhfar Hbeish under case no. 580/302 against the person responsible for spreading these allegations, including the accusation of espionage. I spoke directly with the judge, and the matter is now being followed by the court at Galerie Samaan, Maktab Mokafaht Jaraem al-Ma’lumatiyeh, in Beirut. Copies of the tweets and related posts were attached to the police report at the judge’s request. I also contacted both the Internal Security Information Branch and Army Intelligence, and I placed my phone, computer, and electronic devices at their disposal. I have nothing to hide, and I will not be intimidated by lies dressed up as “concern” or “questions.” I returned to Beirut from Tyre, where I was reporting on the suffering of civilians in the south and on Israel’s indiscriminate targeting of Lebanese civilians. Tyre is not some secret military zone, and the attempt to portray my reporting as espionage is not only absurd, but reckless and vicious. Let me be absolutely clear: I will pursue this matter to the very end against the person who published these lies and against anyone who repeats, circulates, amplifies, or endorses them. False accusations of espionage are not commentary, and they are not protected by cowardly insinuation. They are defamation, incitement, and a direct threat to my life. As an American citizen, my embassy in Beirut offered assistance, which I declined. I did not come here to seek protection from the consequences of someone else’s sickness and attention-seeking behaviour. I came to report on the crimes committed against Lebanon. I know why I am here, and I know exactly what I am doing. The legal process is under way. My lawyer will take care of the rest. Those who believed they could hunt me with lies, endanger my life and call for public incitement will now have to answer for it before the courts and won’t walk away without legal consequences. It seems narcissism is not limited to Donald Trump. It is also alive in individuals who pretend to be journalists while endangering others with lies. @DGSGLB @MinistryInfoLB @LebarmyOfficial @DGSGLB @LBPresidency

Why can’t Shias understand that no one has a problem with them fighting Israel? People dislike them because they were involved in the killing of people in Syria
