After a long, winding journey, my IADR Women in Science Award for Distinguished Female Mentor plaque finally arrived in Sheffield, UK this week - having set-off from the IADR General Session in New Orleans, USA in March 2024! I was so overjoyed to have received this award which is such an honour particularly given the huge importance mentorship has in my academic life - at @CommDentOralEpi & @ShefDentistry I have had the great pleasure of supervising many inspirational and talented female social science & dental MSc and PhD students, & early career researchers from around the world including UK, Thailand, Malaysia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Germany, India, Poland, Portugal & Iran. V excited to put the skills into action when I start an @NIHRSPCR PhD Programme for Primary Care Clinicians with @HOPE_UoM, where I’ll be evaluating NHS financing reforms for dental care across the UK, and what these can offer NHS dental policy beyond simply UDA vs Capitation.

New in HSR: "Requiem for Odds Ratios" with Bryan Dowd, Melissa Garrido, and Matt Maciejewski. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/toc/14756773/0… We commend HSR for discouraging the reporting of odds ratios in most studies. We agree wholeheartedly with this decision, which keeps HSR at the forefront.
