This is a strong example of our partnership in action, working together to bring investment, creativity and opportunity into the heart of the borough. @LNallalingham Option 1: Two councils delivering the same services to the same number of people with the same number of staff but one spends nineteen times more on offices and facilities as the other Option 2: The data you are reporting doesn't cover the same things Which seems more likely?

@LNallalingham Lewisham isn't spending nineteen times as much on offices & facilities as Greenwich. Different Council's break down & report their spending in different ways which often makes dirrect comparisons difficult.

Delivering services costs money. Salaries need paying, buildings need heating and lighting, specialist proffesional services have to be aquired. Could local government be better? Yes. Does some money get spent on silly things? Yes. But the public is not being ripped off.

£440 million on office & facilities management! Outrageous, surely? No. It's £88 million a year on dozens of buildings and sites - offices, community centres, libraries, vehicle depots. Buildings cost money. Are staff all meant to work from home?

£830 million... over five years. For a Council with a £1 billion budget, providing services to 300,000 people and employing over 3,500 staff. £370,743 a year on recruitment. £296,055 a year on marketing. £3 million a year on legal fees. As part of a £1 billion budget.

I’m proud to call Lewisham my home and I’m proud of the difference Labour has made in our community. But there is more we can do. I’ve got a vision for a Lewisham where everyone can feel safe and live well. A borough full of opportunity, where everyone can afford a decent life.
