We’re committed to providing the appropriate and responsible legislative solutions, but we’re also looking to the Department of Education, the Council on Postsecondary Education, and the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority to work with us to address this issue.
Last session we provided local school districts with the funding to provide raises for all employees, this session we’re focused on making existing state programs and resources work more effectively at increasing access to a career in education.
In the biennial budget, we increased per-student funding to eligible FRYSCS from approximately $184 to $210. The funds will go directly towards helping our students.
This morning, members had the opportunity to ride a school bus to visit Westridge Elementary in Frankfort. They were hosted by the students and District 5 Family Resource & Youth Services Center Coordinators. It was great chance to hear directly from the students and FRYSCs.
