I've been inspired by the changes at Twitter to try and build my own social media platform. Not because I think anyone would use it - there are (and will be) much better alternatives - I may not even host it. But just as a side project to try out some new/different technologies

Power to the p̶e̶o̶p̶l̶e̶ rich. This helps no one - $8/mth is a lot for a few pixels. Low enough for someone to scam/impersonate someone for a while. High enough to be unsustainable for those that aren't particularly wealthy - I'm thinking activists, those in the arts, etc.

I can definitely see Twitter dying because of Musk's takeover. Let's start a new social media platform!

Aaaaand I don't see how this facilitates Musk's ideal of how Twitter 'should' be - I just see it breeding inequality and scamming. Sure those are both regrettable realities of society but not really what I thought he meant by making Twitter a digital 'town square'
