I joined Rep. Brad Buckley, Senator Pete Flores, Rep. Drew Darby, and Rep. Ellen Troxclair in sending a formal letter to PUC Chairman Thomas Gleeson and the Commissioners. We are requesting an immediate meeting to discuss the Bell County East to Big Hill 765kV transmission project. This line goes far beyond the original intent of HB 5066 and is not needed right now to keep the grid reliable. ERCOT’s own December 2024 sequencing report makes it clear: only two of the three Permian Basin import paths are required by 2030. Instead of rushing more massive transmission lines across private property, we should be prioritizing dispatchable generation right here in Texas — closer to the fuel source — to deliver the reliable, affordable power our families and businesses actually need after Winter Storm Uri. Texas deserves a smarter, more deliberate approach that protects property rights, holds down costs, and truly strengthens our grid. Full letter attached. We look forward to sitting down with the PUC and continuing this important conversation with Texans. @EllenTroxclair @BradBuckleyDVM @PeteFlores_TX @DrewDarbyTX
