For only the second time in Texas history, the sitting Speaker of the Texas House will address delegates at our State Convention. Speaker Burrows is also stepping forward as a sponsor of the convention as well. That has never happened before. Before Speaker Burrows held office, he was a delegate and a precinct chair. He’s sat in those same seats, had those same conversations, and understands exactly what it means to show up and help shape the future of Texas. We are grateful for his willingness to not only support this convention, but to be part of it in a way that respects and recognizes the delegates who make this party strong. Honored to take part in today’s Governor for a Day ceremony, celebrating my friend and West Texas Senator @electcharles as he was recognized with this distinction. It was a truly historic moment watching the original @GovernorPerry administer the oath of office to our newest Governor Perry. Turns out, one just wasn’t enough. Charles has been a close friend and trusted colleague over the years. From my first term in the Texas House to today, I’ve seen firsthand his commitment to service and his tireless advocacy for our community, rural Texas, and the continued growth and prosperity of our state. Thank you to our host, Texas Tech Chancellor @CreightonForTX, Governor Rick Perry, and everyone who helped make this a memorable day for our state—and especially for West Texas. And congratulations to Senate President Pro Tempore and Governor for a Day Charles Perry, who I have no doubt will make the most of every remaining minute on the job today.

Kids are being exposed to violent, graphic content online, and Big Tech is doing too little to stop it. It was recently discovered on Roblox, a platform used by millions of children, that users were able to create and access a simulation of the Uvalde school shooting. This isn’t a glitch. It’s a failure. These platforms are designed to maximize engagement. More time, more clicks, more profit. But when safety takes a back seat, children are the ones exposed to the consequences. Yesterday, the House General Investigating Committee on the July 2025 Flooding concluded two days of joint hearings with our Senate counterparts, examining the facts and failures that led to the tragic loss of life at Camp Mystic last summer. These proceedings required courage—from the families who have endured loss, from survivors and all those impacted who continue to carry the weight of that night, and from those entrusted with uncovering the truth. We are especially grateful to the Heaven’s 27 families, whose grief is profound and enduring, yet who have chosen to share their stories in the hope that no other family will experience such heartbreak. What emerged is deeply painful: there were failures—of systems, of preparation, and of response. Nothing can undo that fact. However, we have a responsibility to confront these realities with honesty, to learn from them, and to act. We must ensure places meant for joy, character-building, and lifelong friendships—like summer camps—remain safe for every child. I want to recognize the investigators, Casey Garrett and Justice Michael Massengale, for their work. Everyone agrees they did an incredible job. I want also to thank the members of both the House and Senate committees for their dedication to this effort—Chairs @MorganMeyerTX and @PeteFlores_TX, Vice-Chairs @moodyforelpaso and @electcharles, and members @DrewDarbyTX, @PaulDysonTX, @RepErinEGamez, @SenBryanHughes, @LoisKolkhorst, and @Menendez4Texas. They probed and are leading to bring out the truth, so we can better protect our children and families from future disasters.

Fortunately, the attack on the synagogue was thwarted, and no one was physically hurt, but was the cause a "Big Tech" game program "teaching" no morality at all?
