I'm in central London where far right militants have gathered to counter the #TogetherAlliance march. Many of the far right are openly inhaling cocaine off what appear to be Yale keys. The air hangs heavy with the stench of lager and menace. Developing story here. Brian

@WMboxingmedia @euan_weddell @esrmuaythai Yes, I remember you. I think mismatches are part of boxing and it’s up to the databases to keep up to date records, not decide what’s and isn’t a proper fight.

@JamesGoyder @euan_weddell @esrmuaythai I made my pro debut against Nop Kratingdaeng for the PABA bantamweight title in 2015, so I understand mismatches in Thailand firsthand. But that doesn’t mean fights shouldn’t be uploaded
clearer regulations and standards going forward would help.

Thailand being “suspended” on BoxRec is a big moment.
It’s been a hub for international fighters staying active and building records — supporting the local scene.
At the same time, higher standards and better matchmaking benefit everyone long term.

@euan_weddell @WMboxingmedia @esrmuaythai I went to see Sirimongkol fight in Hua Hin about 10 years ago. He was a former world champion, and had over 50 fights and they matched him with an American school teacher who was making his debut.

@sidlowe I’m not sure about that, if ref doesn’t give it then it doesn’t get overturned so VAR is basically irrelevant here. Whatever decision the ref made on pitch would have stood.

@PaulmurphyBKK @ThaiFootballs He got into an elite environment when he was 16, playing 11 a side matches every weekend. In Thailand 16 year olds barely play unless it’s with their school, there hasn’t been a youth league organized by the Thai FA in about five years.

@ThaiFootballs No one simple answer but a combination of factors.
1) Dad is a professional footballer so born into football environment
2) Family living abroad so born into a multicultural / multilingual context = easier to adapt to unfamiliar environment
3) Brazilian nationality helps

Raised in Thailand. Came through a Thai football academy.
And now he is making his debut for Bayern Munich.
So the real question is: why can Maycon can reach this level, while so many Thai kids who grew up in the same system cannot?
We need to think about it seriously.

@SamBIitz From what I see teams get a half each but when the keepers are practicing kicks someone need to go a little longer. It’s the same every week, this is the first time anyone has had a problem with it.
