Silverton life: Did a 50-minute mosey on Saturday after all the rains has washed through everything. Silver Creek was running high under the pedestrian bridge near the bowling center and blossoms are starting to come out on the trees.

Transportation heaven: Went to Linfield on Thursday for 5A hoops. Always prefer to take the Wheatland Ferry. Gray, soupy sort of day on the Willamette River. Water was high but nowhere near high enough to halt operations. $3 bucks each way.

Musings: Found this sign on the rear glass of a pickup truck at Linfield University on Thursday. Is it true? I turned 17 in 1970. The first Ramones album came out in 1976. Nixon resigned in 1974. The last chopper left Saigon on 4-30-75. What else? Help me out here!

Obituary: Was saddened to hear of the death of Country Joe McDonald, who passed away in Berkeley, at 84. 1960s/Woodstock figure stuck to his guns, so to speak, and continued to make relevant music long after the Fish and Woodstock were long gone. There are giants in those days.
