Moments simply don’t get better than this. James Island’s Taj Marchand goes #33 overall to the Tampa Bay Rays. Yes, the big league affiliate of the Charleston Riverdogs. The tears flow. Mom and Dad hugs are epic. The crowd in downtown Charleston erupts. He’ll go down as one of the most decorated HS players ever from the Island, and a really good kid. His Dad, former South Carolina Stingrays player, Hugo Marchand immediately says after - “I need a beer, Taj, it’s on your tab”.
