If I am Rutgers, I am making a much heavier investment in men's and women's lax and women's basketball. Football and men's basketball are not winning or competing for Natties, but those 3 sports all have a history at Rutgers and can be built up quickly into national contenders. Especially lax. Especially on the men's side. If Princeton, Yale and Cornell can dominate the scene, with no true NIL or rev share, but certainly with admissions cooperation, so can Rutgers. You need a sport on the national level which makes people talk about Rutgers sports. That is what Northwestern and BC are doing in women's lax.

This part of the Protect College Sports Act, from @RossDellenger's piece, wouldn't apply to Texas, A&M, OU, USC, UCLA, Oregon or Washington, but *would* apply to Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Cal, Stanford, Rutgers and SMU.

This is 1000% correct. College football was the quintessential American sport, as special and unique as the FA pyramid in England. And it has been ruined by TV suits, greedy chancellors/presidents and the spineless commissioners that do their bidding.

My fear with NCAA Tournament expansion: We won't see Saint Peter's get a crack at Kentucky or Princeton taking a swing at Arizona. Or to use a 2026 example, Siena pushing Duke to the wire. I don't want the MAAC and Ivy champs relegated to some out-bracket. That would suck.
