Interesting that in the Everton points deduction verdict the Premier League said “A financial penalty for a club that enjoys the support of a wealthy owner is not a sufficient penalty” and that “the requirements of deterrence, vindication of compliant clubs, and the protection of the integrity of the sport demand a sporting sanction in the form of a points deduction’. Presumably the Chelsea fine (which ultimately is just a deduction from what billion dollar Clearlake will pay to billionaire Abramovich from the £150m held back at the deal date) is then neither punishment, a deterrent or protecting the integrity of the sport? If I was an Everton or Forest fan would not be happy with this outcome.

🏃‍♂️ Look out for Mariner Rob Stones on your travels running around South Sefton. Despite having a full-time job, Rob is running 84 marathons in 84 days in support of @LiverpoolWomens. He has completed 36 so far - highlights include breaking a toe, bitten by a dog and contracting cellulitis and having to complete 2 marathons on crutches. Any donations can made here: justgiving.com/page/beyond84 #WeAreMarine @bbcnwt @Carra23 @GranadaReports @LivEchoLFC @TheGuideLpool

@JamesLeary7 @MarineAFC Love this J. A club and leadership that consistently impress. Clear, considered decisions always made with the long-term interests of the club at heart. In the toughest moments, alignment and collective responsibility really show on & off pitch 👌👏 (not easy in modern game)

✍️ We’re delighted to announce the signing of Congolese forward Offrande Zanzala from Chester. The striker began his career at Derby County and has played for a host of EFL clubs including Accrington Stanley, Crewe Alexandra, and Barrow. The 29-year-old has over 200 senior appearances under his belt, mostly across Leagues One and Two, and played with manager Bobby Grant along the way. On signing Offrande, Bobby said: “Zanzala is a player I have played with and know personally, he brings experience and is a top forward so we are delighted to bring him into the football club and more importantly he can’t wait to join Marine.” Offrande said: “I am delighted to have signed for Marine Football Club, I can’t wait to play for the club, score goals and play in front of the fans, and hopefully help the team get promoted. “Speaking to the gaffer, it was an easy conversation to come to sign as I have played with him at previous clubs, and sharing the dressing room with him then has helped massively with coming to play under a manager that I am comfortable with and have that relationship already, where on the pitch he knows what I am like and how I play to help the team, but most importantly get the best out of me. “Off the pitch, it’s vital as he needs to know that who he is bringing will be good for the changing room so that was all positive. “Adding to that, the players I have played with also in Declan Drysdale and Charlie Jolley, also Ash Hunter that I know which made the move a lot more easier to play for this club which has big ambitions and goals, which I want to be apart of and making history. “I want to get promoted and score many goals, making a mark and showcasing my talent and my attributes as a player for the world to see. See you all on Boxing Day.” #WeAreMarine

Brilliant work from @CommunityMarine and our volunteers again. Spoke to a lady who went along to the community cafe with her 2 friends for the first time a year ago. Now she sits on a table of 14 of them all have become good friends. Great to see the work being done

🎄 To celebrate our first Christmas with our Community Hub, our local community enjoyed bacon and sausage barms, tea & coffee and had a sing-along with our @CommunityMarine choir. #WeAreMarine

Incredible demand for @MarineAFC v @southport_fc Boxing Day tickets. Not exaggerating when I say I think with unlimited capacity we would have had 4,500-5,000+. It will be a great occasion.
