Back to back 17th place finishes in the Premier League and dropping £85m on a relegated player. Villa who have finished in Europe in each of the last 4 seasons and won the Europa League this season have to sell to buy. Both of #AVFC's owners are billionaires. Sad.

It really is hard to comprehend that such a high percentage of football fans have such a non existent understanding of basic football economics. But this guy is apparently a journalist and presenter!? How do you want it to work? You want a club to be able to underachieve for decades, without any European football, even get relegated and spend a few seasons in the championship - then come back up, stink the Premier League out for 3 more years, use your entire turnover to pay the wages at the same level as Barcelona and Real Madrid, then stumble upon a great manager who’s given you a few decent years and be able to spend like you’re this staple of the Champions League? That’s not the real world mate. Nor should it be. Spurs are at last the beneficiaries of two decades of pragmatic economic planning and building that has now allowed them to take risks in the transfer market, whilst not breaching PSR. It’s so simple to understand. So you’re either choosing not to because it’s sexier that way, or you’re actually stupid. I wonder which one it is?
