Crew, meet Avery 💚 Avery is an 8-year-old leukemia survivor. In collaboration with @Triumph2gether , Avery designed custom sneakers for her walk-in with @megan_keller4 this morning. We were honored to have Avery perform our ceremonial puck drop and congratulate her on ringing the bell and beating cancer!

I kept this story in my pocket for a long time.... In Pittsburgh, September 15th is Roberto Clemente Day. Every year the whole organization fans out across the city. It's like Christmas. Roberto's family is there, Vera and the boys. My first year as manager was 2011. We celebrated. We shook hands and moved on. We didn't win. 19 consecutive losing seasons. 2012 rolls around. Same day, same celebration. We had another losing season, our 20th consecutive. After the ceremony, Roberto Jr. walked over. "My mom wants to talk to you." We went into the dugout. Me, Vera, and her three sons. She spoke in Spanish. I played four years of winter ball so I understood enough. She wasn't angry, but she was passionate. And I kept hearing Roberto's number come up. Roberto Jr. translated. "My mother wants you to know that there cannot be a 21st losing season. That was Roberto's number. It would be a disgrace to his legacy." She was staring right at me. Before I could even think about what to say, words came out of my mouth: "I promise you, Vera. That won't happen." Roberto Jr. looked at me and said, "You made my mom a promise. I hope you can keep it." I said, "I hope I can keep it too." I didn't tell my coaches. I didn't tell the players. I told my wife. That was it. The next year, 2013, we broke the consecutive seasons losing streak. Ended it at 20. On Roberto Clemente Day that September, Vera came walking across that field. And I probably got one of the most meaningful hugs I've ever received in my life. The players did all the heavy lifting. I just got the hug. Some promises are worth making before you know if you can keep them. @Pirates

Condolences to Johan's family and friends. Johan created an invaluable site that many of us (myself included) can't imagine working without.
Elite Prospects@eliteprospects

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Johan Nilsson, the founder of Elite Prospects and the person whose curiosity and passion for hockey planted the seed for everything we have built together. Born on the 9th of April 1981, Johan founded Elite Prospects in December 1999 at just 18 years old. What started as a vision driven by a deep love of hockey grew into the world’s leading hockey platform, a testament to the kind of person he was. Johan had a rare combination of qualities: sharp intellect, deep knowledge, and a kindness that made everyone around him feel valued. He could dive into the most complex problems with calm and clarity, and he brought that same thoughtfulness to the people he worked with every day. For the past nine years, Johan faced a battle with colon cancer with the same calm and strength that defined everything he did. His love of hockey was never just about the game. It was about understanding it fully, honestly, and in all its detail. That drive is woven into the DNA of Elite Prospects, and it will continue to shape the future of what we do. To know Johan was to be quietly inspired by him. We are all immensely grateful that we got to work alongside someone like him. Our deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. He will be greatly missed, by all of us and by the global hockey community. Johan leaves behind his beloved wife and two children, aged two and eight.

Stonehill included more renderings for the arena project in its latest release. Hockey and basketball are separate arenas within the same complex - similar to what Quinnipiac built.

With the #mnwild season ending tonight, there have now been 138 consecutive combined seasons for Minnesota’s NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, and MLS teams without a finals appearance. The last time any of those teams participated in a championship round was 12,618 days ago.

Feel brutal for Wild fans. That team was so good and you lose your best center and a stud top 4 d man against the best team in the league. Just a kick in the dick. Minnesota sports fans are pros at getting their hearts ripped out.

KIDS: This is Jakub Dobes' journey. At 18 years old, he was playing 18u AAA and Missouri high school hockey. He made a vow then to @JeffLoVecchio that he was going ALL IN. So much that he sent a screenshot of every meal that he ate to Vechs to make sure his nutrition was on point. This video gives me chills. Especially knowing the work that went into it with the partnership of Dobey and Vechs. Everyone has a different path. 18u and Missouri HS hockey at 18 years old. Seven years later he has the entire Bell Centre in Montreal on its feet. When you commit to something - really commit to something - it's a powerful, powerful thing.

@ryanwhitney6 @JoshWheeler23 And now you potentially get Joel Eriksson Ek back for Game 4 too. Huge boost down the middle and another guy that can play heavy in this series. The X was absolutely rocking last night. Only thing Colorado’s got going right now is Jared Bednar’s lettuce behind the bench.
