@popo_junior20 Great question! The short answer is that I could never get the Wireshark dissector to work on the low-quality stream captures from my DVB-S2 card. I think someone better at Lua might be able to close that loop though!

@francoisquiquet For sure! Perhaps I'll make a blog post when I get the chance. The very short answer is that I'm using (github.com/pabr/leansdr) to simulate a DVB-S2 signal and tsduck (github.com/tsduck/tsduck) + ffmpeg to craft MPEG-TS streams to go inside it.

@DeepakMurugadas Hi! Glad you enjoyed the briefing. We used a TBS6983 tuner for our research but any DVB-S tuner can work in theory. The most useful will be tuners with driver support for "Generic Streams" and "Blindscan" since that will let you find sats and view raw DVB-S packets more easily.

@JamesPavur it was a good session on defcon 2020 mate, Lot of details though. I would like to have my hands-on similar project could you assist me in selecting PCIE tuner.

@skappy1 No problem! We picked the dish just because of how it fit on the roof where we were doing experiments. A traditional parabolic dish will likely be comparable or better for the same cost.

@JamesPavur Thank you very much for your help James ! One last point please ? May I ask you which criteria conduct you to choose such a antenna instead of a classical dish ? Does it allows better signals or more satellites received at once ? Thank you for your help and your kindness !
