“Without a strong character, the conceit dies on the vine.” — James R. Gapinski

Anyone know any good writing podcats? I'm starting to pitch appearances for my new book. I listen to "Between the Covers," "Another Fucking Writing Podcast," and "Otherppl." I feel like I am missing others now that my commute is just a 10 minute walk to work! #Writing_Community

I see a copy of my book on the @adroitjournal's list of titles for review/interview (and a whole lot of other great titles). 👀
You want in on that, drop them a line.

Wasn’t sure about #awp26, but somehow said “yes” to two panel proposal invites, so I guess I’m going next year.
If anyone else still needs to round out a panel, send me a message. Open to anything on flash/short fiction, queer lit, small press editing, whatever else you cook up.

Ya’ll, it’s getting real. Reviewing the layout and some proofreading notes. Physical ARC comes later, but I printed the pages since I prefer to read this way. Obviously can’t tell much from these teaser pages, but @boaeditions typesetter Isabella Madeira did a beautiful job.

I’m teaching a class on animal characters at @literaryarts in Portland next month. Saturdays (4x sessions total) at 10:00am to noon. Get your claws and teeth and feathers ready. Details here: literary-arts.org/event/wild-thi…

@saderotica 9 years is a long ass time. I know “hiatus” is usually a death mark, but time away can help. After 10 grinding years, I did that with Conium during the height of the pandemic, & it helped me figure out what I really wanted from the project when eventually coming back to it ❤️❤️❤️

@GNutsofHorror You gotta pay. Google Docs works well enough in a pinch.

@megiddings @JamesTateHill Vintage furniture stores for sure! Even Craigslist depending on locale. Lots of people selling "old" desks that are solid as a rock (though maybe a coat of Danish Oil is needed to bring that finish back to life), and I've had luck asking CL sellers to deliver if I pay them extra.
English

@JamesTateHill Hey JT, depending on where you're based, a more affordable, fully assembled option might actually be an antiques or vintage furniture store. I've been able to in my area get them to deliver for $$.
More expensive, but fully assembled and delivered are places like cb2 or west elm
