the @god_colony remix of Carbon Dioxide by Fever Ray is out today. Class to be asked by an artist we respect a lot. The remix is a bit of a love letter to the Erol / Kompakt / Korova era that brought me and @JamesRand together in Liverpool, the “burnt CDs in black wallets” time.

@4_Beats @erolalkan I struggled with this as well. The best trick is to put them in 15 minute before the rave so you get used to it. Good luck!

@erolalkan Got fitted for these (or something similar) a couple of years ago but felt I couldn’t hear the music properly so never really used them. Gonna try force myself to get used to using them again.

@kush_jones_ High pass filter to around 200 and low shelf taking away about 5dB from 5k upwards on pro Q3 then a reverb (Valhalla or Seventh Heaven) and then compression (LA-2A equivalent) on longer verbs.

At what point in the frequency spectrum do you start and stop the bands for reverb? Is it tasteful to have one for lower parts of the hi and one for the airy part of the spectrum? The way I started to do it is how I just described.

@midlandsound Where is the modern day equivalent? Surely a PlayStation 5 or Xbox could run an Ableton for beginners esque game now?

@ufo_trance @kush_jones_ @AcusticaAudio @brainworxaudio I have Pulsar Mu and Massive. Amazing plugins! Mu is often amazing on your drum bus (like the api2500). Never liked it on master. Better for rock and live sounding stuff I’ve found. Massive is on master 80% of time. That has a mild saturation effect that is 🤌🏻

@JamesRand @kush_jones_ @AcusticaAudio @brainworxaudio I'm using Acustic's Fire The Clip with great results on subs & breaks. Softubes Bus Processor has an excellent saturation section but a lot of people swear by Pulsar Mu which can often be had inexpensively.

Does anyone have any good resources or reading for coloring mixes (tracks)? Saturation, compression, etc.

@kush_jones_ For saturation I’d highly recommend the vertigo audio VSM-3. You need something where you can dial in small amounts of grit so you don’t fuck your whole mix. Alternatively @iZotopeInc Trash2 is great or Ozone 9 exciter for v subtle use.

Thinking of packing up my 2009 16GB RAM Mac Pro cheese grater which I’ve used in my studio for 14 years, and moving to the new M2 Mac Mini. Running Logic and Pro Tools.. Any else confirm it’s as incredible as the various YouTube videos I’ve been watching. #excitingsaturdaynite

@aya_yco Is the claret set to accept word clock by default? I don’t know the devices but I would guess it’s to do with word clock or a software routing woe.
