@AaronBastani The account also wote that it must be organic and market driven. Why must the market be so abstracted from social needs? Why can't security, privacy, research autonomy be seen as public goods? I would love a Novara special on Karl Polanyi.

@stellacreasy It's so dangerous to accept this level of gaslighting in public life. Imagine if somebody's partner was trying too convince them they were unhinged because they trusted their eyes. We'd all say "get out, it's abuse". Politicians like @stellacreasy do it all the time.

Increasingly unhinged posts from this man proving my point - emotion not going to get Europe out of this situation. Proposing things like suddenly scrapping trident means owning the consequences, not just shouting when people point them out - it also drowns important questions of how we make our security stronger with Europe which is the subject of my original video. And tbh questioning my patriotism is what I usually get from alt right trolls…
Zack Polanski@ZackPolanski

Labour are complicit in a genocide. Labour are pretending we have a nuclear deterrent despite the fact it doesn't work & relies on Donald Trump. And all the while - they're got nothing substantial to say because they've tied our national security to the USA. Some patriots. 👇🏼

@SaulStaniforth @theyoungimam He seems to think it is ok for foreign governments to "construct" an opposition within a country. I lived in Colombia for years and what struck me as odd was how unremarkable interference in Venezuela seemed to most. The 2002 US coup attempt was also seen as nothing.

34 years ago today, Sir Matt Busby’s testimonial took place between #MUFC and Ireland. Greeted with a guard of honour, met the teams and given a standing ovation by the Stretford End. Beautiful ❤

@talkSPORT @alex_crook This is where people get it wrong. They only talk of what can be measured. Manchester United are the biggest club because of the stories (the babes, the trinity, the class of 92) and because everybody talks about them.

This is what abusers do. They gaslight you. You show anger at injustice and they try and make you believe that anger makes you abnormal or makes you the abuser. It happens in relationships and it happens a lot with those who want to justify Israel. It is so important to name it

@SkySportsPL In order to understand life you need to understand the nuance behind the numbers. United are the biggest club because they have the stories. Human society centres on stories not simplistic measures. The babes, Munich, the trinity, the class of 92. Liverpool don't come close.

@LabBeyondCities @DarrellChaloner @AaronBastani In the 80s we got the phenomenon of unemployed people being told they were lazy. This has now been extended to telling people with a full-time job they are lazy if they don't dedicate their free time to self-improvment. Where does this end?

@AaronBastani So many of these people seem to have the same misguided idea that agency means making choices. Real agency is making decisions with access to as much information as possible about the reality of a situation.

@AaronBastani It's everywhere. Debord called it spectacle. Rather than try and understand complex phenomenon, we are convinced by people who claim huge success. See endless polyglots on YouTube. Millions watch to see how languages are learned. Despite their trite advice and simplistic insight

I think the left is constitutionally incapable of appealing to young men atm. Why? Because for significant numbers of them prestige bias is a thing. They look up to, listen to, & sometimes imitate those they associate with success. The American right really understands this. /1

@MrTomGray How can you possibly have analysed enough data 3 days later to come to such huge sweeping conclusions that "coincidentally" absolve you are further reflection. This is why the centre never change their position.

@tonymc39 @Keir_Starmer The reason you think people on the left are cranks is that you are unable to critically examine commonly held implicit biases. Proudly announcing your plan to no longer engage with anyone who disagrees and probably reads and thinks more than you, shows how far gone you are.

For 8 years I have been unable to resist the temptation to argue with the crank left. Now, finally, I feel I can stop. @Keir_Starmer achieved more in his first six hours in power than their standard bearer did in 40 years. It’s over. We won. Leave them to shout into the void.

@campbellclaret @Keir_Starmer This is such lazy nonsense " serious grown up" Obviously, these are not neutral words. The reason we can't get past centerism seems to be that huge swathes of people are so simplisticly uncritical in front of discourse like this.

The most powerful impression of @Keir_Starmer press conference was that we are returning to serious grown up politics and government. Not a day too soon. The focus on ministerial standards was welcome. Devoting Day 2 to meetings with First Ministers or Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland was a great sign after the contempt shown to them by the Tories in recent years. Ditto Metro Mayors Day 3. And it was like a breath of fresh air to hear and see the focus on prisons. The @JamesTCobbler appointment is inspired. Also if I can tell @Emmabarnett of another swimming pool chat - Jason from Yorkshire said it was amazing how much stronger and more confident KS looked since actually winning. That is the power of the office.
