.@JamesTalarico: I have no problem sharing hard truths and disagreeing with the powers that be in my own party. I’m a Democrat because I feel like it’s the best vehicle to unite working people — but if the party is not doing that, I have no problem calling it out. In Texas, we have been suffering for 30 years under one-party rule. One-party rule always leads to extremism and corruption because there’s not a check on that power. We have the opportunity to finally end 30 years of one-party rule in Texas. If we do that, I think it’s gonna improve public policy for all of us.

.@JamesTalarico: Neither John Cornyn nor Ken Paxton deserve the honor of representing this great state. Both of them are far more interested in serving their billionaire megadonors than serving the people of Texas. Ken Paxton's crimes are well known, but John Cornyn may be even more corrupt because he was the deciding vote on that big ugly bill that's going to kick millions of Texans off their healthcare all to give yet another tax break to his donors. John Cornyn committed an act of corruption of the highest order, and it's why he has forfeited his right to represent all of us in the United States Senate.

Analyst: The Texas Democratic primary turnout was the highest EVER in history. Democrats are REALLY enthusiastic. This is tremendous. More people voted in the Democratic primary than the Republican primary. This is extremely, extremely unusual. This is tremendous for Democrats.

No more forever wars.

There’s never enough money for schools or healthcare or veterans. But there’s always enough money to bomb people on the other side of the world. We can support the democracy movement in Iran without bombing innocent schoolchildren and sending our American troops off to die.

Texans are ready for a new kind of politics.

.@JamesTalarico in first interview since his primary victory: My faith teaches me to love my neighbor as myself, because despite our differences, we all want the same things — a safe neighborhood, a good job, a well-funded public school, and the ability to see a doctor. I’m tired of being pitted against my neighbor and told to hate my neighbor. Texas has a deep hunger for a different kind of politics rooted in love. The old politics of blood sport and total war is dying, and we are building a movement to take on this broken, corrupt political system on behalf of all people in our state.

I was honored to attend the homegoing service of one of my heroes: Rev. Jesse Jackson. As a pastor, he preached unity and love. As a candidate, he built a multi-racial working-class coalition. Thank you to the Jackson Family for inviting me to celebrate his incredible life.

Talarico: I am tired of being pitted against my neighbor. I'm tired of being told to hate my neighbor. It's been more than ten years of this kind of politics. Politics as bloodsport, politics as trolling and owning politics as total war. It tears families apart. It ends friendships, and it leaves us all feeling terrible all the time.  We cannot defeat the politics of division with more division. We can't win their game. We have to change the game. This campaign is rooted in a fierce love for this state, for this country, and most importantly, for all of our neighbors.

One thing is clear: we’re about to take back Texas. To the billionaires who have taken over our state and our country: your unchecked power is coming to an end.  To the people of Texas: this election is our chance to take power back for ourselves and our communities.
