We also tried Hamstreet Wood for Large Tortoiseshell but could only manage one. Very difficult to get a photo, as every time one of the many Peacocks or Commas flew over it chased them, and we had to locate it all over again.😏

Great trip to Orlestone Forest where I added Large Tortoiseshell to my UK butterfly list. Perfect conditions with 7-8 different individuals seen between Birchett and Faggs Wood 🦋

@theboygriffin From Orlestone Car Park. Continue into the wood until you come to the T junction. To the right you will see 3/4 big concrete blocks, muddy here, walk to the blocks and you can look down a dry ride. We had all 5 along this ride between 13.30 and 15.30.

We only see Coal Tits on one or two dates a year in our garden, so I was a bit lucky to get this. And of course it has to be cold, brrrr @NatureUK @BTO_GBW

The Snow Bunting flew off just as I slipped and fell on the wet rocks two days ago. That's two rules I now have; Don't go up hills and don't climb on wet rocks. Especially as I have a job standing still nowadays. Beacon Hill CP. @RareBirdAlertUK @BirdGuides

In mid-March we sometimes had to wait for over an hour to see the elusive Smew on Bubbenhall Meadow. It's not eating bread yet but give it another six months or so and I think it might. @RareBirdAlertUK @BirdGuides @BenColeman_28 It's now at Ryton Pools CP.. Warwickshire.
