Work has begun on the brand new £44m Kingston Leisure Centre! Our team were delighted to join partners and stakeholders on site yesterday to mark the beginning of this monumental construction project, which we are delivering for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. The new centre is set to utterly transform the ways in which local residents can get active, and will include facilities such as a 25m, 8-lane main pool with moveable floor, a 20m learner pool with interactive splash zone, health suite with sauna and steam room, 150-station gym, group cycling studio, soft play, and much more. We are thrilled that works on our fifth project for Durham County Council will begin this summer; the construction of a £27.3m leisure centre in Bishop Auckland. Set to become the central hub of the local community, the centre will provide modern, accessible fitness facilities to suit all abilities, as well as housing an adventure soft play centre, a café, a public library, and a community space. The target market for the redevelopment of Peterlee Leisure Centre for Durham County Council was broad and inclusive: families, young people, older adults, and those currently inactive. Through extensive community consultation, residents expressed a desire for more family-friendly, social, and accessible facilities. We incorporated this feedback into our design, and the result was a phenomenal one. Footfall has trebled, fitness memberships have increased by 72%, and there have been more than 48,000 visits to the brand new bowling and soft play facilities.
