The number of people biking in Wellington is skyrocketing because the council built safe places to ride. The number of people on buses is back to pre covid levels because we prioritised workers. Every person on a bike or a bus is a person not driving. It’s just smart investment.

I would also recommend reading the actual book of columns called Sex and the City, which is far more interesting and better written than the show itself, which is cartoonish.

No one in the UK cared about people using the word "soccer" until the late-1990s.
Hence the British magazine 'World Soccer', the ITV highlights programme 'Star Soccer', the Sky show 'Soccer AM' (launched 1995!!), Sky's 'Soccer Saturday' (1998!).

I don’t use “soccer” because even by calling it football some people still look at my location and go, ugh why is this American talking about OUR sport… it’s not empowering to call it soccer it’s the opposite because it can often invite trolls. Not our fault, but the reality

@moorehn Agreed. In 90s Wellington NZ the older commercial execs nurtured the crazy creatives with filthy $$ for that kind of reason. A lot of (now) famous kids came out of that scene

It also occurs to me that a lot of these execs are super lazy and stopped developing their own skills years ago, and have been coasting ever since. So they're not in the habit of nurturing their own skills or vision, which also makes them unable to do that for others.

Between this and the Chris Licht disaster at CNN, it's becoming clear that we have a generation of news/entertainment execs in place who have no idea how to nurture talent. They think it's just plug-n-play. It's not. It requires support and development by execs.
