More reasons to never ever give America a World Cup again.
The New York Times@nytimes

From @TheAthleticFC: New Jersey Transit is currently planning to charge more than $100 for return rail tickets from Penn Station to MetLife Stadium for FIFA World Cup games. The 18-mile rail journey ordinarily costs $12.90 for a return ticket. nyti.ms/3Op4Jxw

@bbcburnsy @HullCity @The1904Club Should the club consider relocating home fans back into the north east corner? For the last few years the atmosphere has been dull & even with the excitement that we’ve had on the pitch this year it’s not channelled back into the stands. Fridays atmosphere felt like a throwback

If* England reach the World Cup final (if* etc), they will not sell out their official FA allocation. The cost of tickets in the most expensive two categories are putting off members of England Supporters Travel Club. There will be only 3,409 England fans present at MetLife Stadium on July 19 via the official FA allocation of 4,500. The two cheapest categories were oversubscribed by members. But the most expensive categories were undersubscribed, especially Cat 1 ($8,680) also Cat 2 ($5,575). Semi-final also undersubscribed. Of the official FA allocation of 3,500, only 2,686 taken up by members if* England reach the semi (members baulking at the most expensive tickets, Cat 1 $3,170 and Cat 2 $2,440). All England games up to and including the quarter-final are oversubscribed. "And we’re having to fork out for those tickets now (payments taken from 9-22 Feb)," one England fan says. "We get the money back later in the summer if England don’t get knock-out games we’ve paid for." #ENG 🦁🦁🦁

“Two choices lie before you - will you demonstrate commitment to fans, and push FIFA to rethink this pricing? Or will you demonstrate complicity and do/say nothing?” Very strong email sent to FA board today about World Cup ticket pricing by one of England’s leading home-and-away fans, a top capper. Sentiments shared by many on England fans’ WhatsApp groups. FA may have to make a public statement on its position at some point otherwise the fans’ protests planned for the March internationals at Wembley could be even louder. In fairness to the FA, it did privately voice fans’ concerns to FIFA about the ridiculous ticket prices. Following widespread outrage amongst fans and in the media, FIFA made a partial U-turn with its new category of “supporter entry tier” of £45 for all 104 games. While a welcome step in the right direction, fans point out this will benefit only 500-600 England fans for their games – 10% of their allocation. Fans want more of the allocation to be “supporter entry tier”. “England’s loyal fans know that supporting our country, home and away, is not without cost,” acknowledges the fan in his email to the FA. “It’s factored in. It’s factored in when tickets/fixtures are released, and there’s a scramble to get booked up for trips to Wembley or those away games. However, it’s what we do for what we often cite as ‘the best hobby in the world’. However, FIFA have declared war on fans, treating our loyalty with disdain, whilst also plundering it for financial benefit.” FIFA emphasises that "as a not-for-profit organisation, FIFA reinvests the revenue it generates from the FIFA World Cup to fuel the growth of men’s, women’s and youth football throughout the 211 FIFA member associations", all for the greater good of the game. To which, the England fan said to the FA, “Let me be very clear - there is no greater good for the wider, global game that is served by attacking and eroding the loyalty of fans. “I like to think that when the players come over to applaud us fans after away games, there’s a genuine appreciation for what we do and the support we bring”. England fans want the FA to acknowledge that and fight for more tickets to be made available at more affordable rates. One of the frustrations is that a diehard England fan might have missed one game through illness or work commitments and so misses out on the £45 tickets and has to go for a more expensive option if* (*if etc) England reach the final. “The $60 to $4185 final ticket jump is still sickening for many,” the fan says. “But England potentially getting through to a final and not having a ticket is also sickening.” #ENG

Don't be fooled by @FIFAcom's PR spin to cover its tracks. The reality of the 60 USD tickets barely makes a difference. Take England vs Croatia. Approx. 1% of the fans in the Dallas Stadium will have 60USD tickets via their NAs. That's about 800 from 70.000+. FIFA must do more.

We have been concerned about pricing for participating nations for months now and have been raising these concerns with Football Supporters Europe and our FA. The early trends were worrying and it is devastating to see those concerns turn reality with the release of England’s prices for the World Cup. ESTC members have followed England loyally throughout this campaign, from Barcelona to Belgrade, Riga to Tirana, multiple midweek trips to Wembley, as well as the caps built from the Euro 2024 campaign, all to back the team to make the World Cup. These prices are a slap in the face to supporters who support their team outside of the flagship tournament that appears every four years. To call the Category 3 tickets, the cheapest available to ESTC members, “Supporter Value Category 3” that comes at a cost of $7020 if you want to follow England from start to finish, is laughable. A game for supporters, loyalty has been thrown out of the window and supporters of the participating nations have been completely let down.

@FIFAcom's #WorldCup ticket prices are a betrayal to the most dedicated fans. At least $6900 to support your team from the first match to the final - nearly 5 times more than in Qatar. FSE calls for the immediate halt to ticket sales. 🔗 Statement: bit.ly/44Sqx9G

Reportedly Croatia Supporters Club’s World Cup ticket prices .. what a bargain 🤣🤣 I had been toying with the idea of getting a conditional final ticket for the “just in case” situation but am I fuck paying £3k, regardless of the enormity of the occasion. Sad state of affairs.
