@LFCApproved How low? Low enough to actually go to the match and support our team. Maybe you should give it a go sometime.

Maverick Pt312 Craft X2 All up and away nicely. 31mm yesterday will move things on. 67.5mm for the month so far. Nice to have new crops emerging bringing an air of positivity with them!

The last of the 2023 crop on its way out. Finished planting 2024 crop yesterday and back to winning ways at cricket. Proper weekend! Thanks to Russell’s for the demo Manitou 841. Cracking machine!

It seems there is a higher presence of grass weeds for the second year in a row. Are we losing the fight against grass weeds? Or have we already lost it and this is the norm?

Really happy with how our heavier land is looking. Num3 planted on Tuesday with 750A after a pass of Heva stealth. 26.5mm yesterday. 6 years no-till is really paying dividends for the soil structure. This field is around 25% clay content

Before I spend a small fortune importing compost biological starter: has anyone had success using starter made in the UK?

@theladyfarmer Whilst the biology in manure isn’t to be sniffed at, I am trying to inoculate soil with N fixing bacteria. This may already be happening at small levels but I am interested to see to what extent I can do this with compost

@Jamesspick That’s crazy - the manure will have all the biology you need

@theladyfarmer I am hoping to reduce our N use. The starter I have my eye on is a powder which will be spread on the manure prior to turning. It has a range of bacteria which will fix N and make other nutrients available. Compost by Fletcher Simms and Acres USA is a good read if interested.

@bencm305 Would like to know how it hasn’t attracted pigeons! Starting to do a bit of damage to our OSR after a successful month or two keeping them away!

Most promising crop of OSR in the country?! I walk my dogs around this 215ha block of OSR most days. Never seen any pigeons. Frost hasn't touched it. No gaps anywhere. Strong plants on all headlands and corners. Not much, if any, insect damage that I could see. No real diversity from margins or companions. I need to find out more about this crop!! Why does this look so strong and elsewhere OSR is struggling or failed?!

Right. Less than two months until the cricket season starts and there’s no better way to celebrate than to complain about all the things I hate seeing on a Saturday. Literally no-one asked. I expect nish engagement. Here we go:
