A proposed energy efficiency program grant for $35M from the West Virginia cities of Wheeling and Moundsville and Ohio and Marshall Counties was rejected despite reducing emissions more cost effectively than 4 of the 6 projects that received awards of between $35 and $50 million.

The DPU supports bill S. 2106 to kick these bad actors out of MA’s residential energy supply market for good. Municipal aggregation continues to be an effective tool in providing energy options for ratepayers, and the DPU continues to make progress on applications before us.

Enforcement action against competitive suppliers distracts our hardworking staff from making progress on the other important pressing responsibilities and executing our role in the clean energy transition.

We work to enforce state laws and rules regarding competitive supply companies, and in a particular instance included kicking a competitive energy supplier out of the market for deceptive telemarketing and seeking penalties.
