Have a listen to how Massachusetts can maintain affordability while still making progress on the clean energy transition. Thanks to Harvard's Dale Bryk for the good conversation on the CleanLaw podcast. eelp.law.harvard.edu/cleanlaw-behin…

Utility regulation in the US is broken. Energy bills are up with no signs of coming down. It's not a technology problem -- It is a competition and regulation problem. We are working to fix it. Excited to have @JamieVanMassDPU on the team to help! thefutureofheat.com/press-release

@drvolts Can't wait to hear the podcast. Illinois is doing some great work on the natural gas transition, under Commerce Commission Chair Doug Scott.

His biggest legacy? It’s worth remembering just how monopolized many industries were before the Carter presidency, where an incumbent airline or trucking firm wielded a “competitor’s veto” over the entry of a new firm into its market.

Hey there, Massachusetts 👋 I'm back from maternity leave and beginning the massive process of playing catch-up. Please reach out if you want to fill me in on what I've missed. (Or even if you just want to say "hi")

Reminder that we are holding our Energy Burden workshop from 10-5pm next Monday: mass.gov/event/energy-b… This workshop will feature presentations from an array of organizations on measures to help reduce the energy burden for low-and-moderate-income ratepayers across the state.

I'd like to recognize my relative, Barb Francetich, who has passed away (her memorial was today in Montana). She was a kind person who kept in mind everyone (and there were so many) in her orbit. Born, raised, lived, and passed away in Great Falls and Sand Coulee. One of the last of an era of large families living close together in this part of the world... greatfallstribune.com/obituaries/pmt…

@MichaelEMann @mckennapr @insideclimate Worth noting that Ernest Moniz and EFI are primary moving forces behind the administration's efforts to shoe-horn absurdly expensive carbon capture into the power generating sector.

Looking forward to my visit tomorrow (April 11) to UMass Law to talk about careers in energy law and opportunities to work for the Massachusetts DPU. Thanks for the invitation, Dean Sam Panarella.

The DPU supports bill S. 2106 to kick these bad actors out of MA’s residential energy supply market for good. Municipal aggregation continues to be an effective tool in providing energy options for ratepayers, and the DPU continues to make progress on applications before us.

Enforcement action against competitive suppliers distracts our hardworking staff from making progress on the other important pressing responsibilities and executing our role in the clean energy transition.

We work to enforce state laws and rules regarding competitive supply companies, and in a particular instance included kicking a competitive energy supplier out of the market for deceptive telemarketing and seeking penalties.
