Had a fun job interview last week. It’s a Football leadership role, so obviously some really good questions about development. However this was my favourite: What books do you recommend to children to read when they’re in their teens and play sports competitively?

Get the answer to that from the people. And you’ll remove many of the ideologues who think they’re unicorns, and make public servants truly servants again.

America is the all holy stock market and economy (now powered by tech and the Mag7. China is increasing trade to power the economy. UK for a period was “financial services” aka money laundering. What is it that is going to power your economy.

NEW: Tony Khan bid on WWE in 2023. There were 4 bidders: winner Endeavor, plus KKR and Liberty Media... Those were apparent for some time. Newly unredacted court records show the 4th was AEW owner Tony Khan's lesser-known entity, Base 10. 1400+ words: postwrestling.com/2026/03/19/ton…

@KaiGWatson Remember when you were a kid and your club would just randomly announce a player, or a new shirt or a sponsor. And the SURPRISE was the most amazing part? They just don’t get it, and the leaks, especially, do not.

Absolutely everything that’s wrong with football this and shows the desperation for this generation to know everything yesterday.

There you go. A vote for Reform is a vote to strip away more local control of issues, and put your life in the hands of people who don’t know a single thing about life in Scotland. Also, LOL at doing this on a Thursday.
Laura Webster@LauraEWebsterr

BREAKING: Reform UK have unveiled plans to reduce the Scottish Parliament's powers in their 2026 manifesto Nigel Farage's party wants to slash the number of MSPs and regularly review Holyrood's devolved powers People were warned that this is what they wanted.

@Paul__Madden Thats my point though - it can all be chosen, but we need to decide (as a fans base, a league, as clubs). Until anything is decided we’re just stuck with the status quo.

@JamieKeith27 I think things like “manufacturing” league parity are difficult, especially given the size of Celtic & Rangers. Could become a bit USA-like, & lack of power makes change hard. Incentivising teams to play young players though, shouldn’t be so difficult.

“They need to be good enough”. This is where all the clubs go wrong. Kids won’t be good enough until you give them the experience. The best thing you can literally do is just put them in at one point in a relatively safe game. But managers aren’t incentivised to do this.

@Paul__Madden What is success for the league. Is it being a league with high youth dev, league parity, just what does it want to be known as. Until we know what’s wanted by the SPFL of the leagues then you can’t built incentives.

@Paul__Madden That’s the other part, the entire incentivising structure in football rewards only one thing instead of a more holistic approach. What do you want your SPFL League to look like, and then reverse manufacture from there.

@JamieKeith27 I’ve said it before (several times!), make say 50% of league prize money based on a ranking of under 21 players minutes. Club with most mins gets highest %age, and so on. That’ll incentivise owners, which will in turn put pressure on managers, and make teams think longer term.

So many Americans are profoundly ignorant of their own history. And the world wars have nothing to do with NATO. The war against Iran has nothing to do with NATO. The only time article 5 was used was by the USA and its NATO (and other) allies came armed to support it.

We’re genuinely reliving America in 2024. Problem for Reform is that they’re 3.5 years or so away from even getting a sniff of national power. UKIPs experiences and Farage have seen in the past before that local power often ruins their chances at national power.
Dan Hind@danhind

You just know that the same people who insisted that we support Starmer in 2020 and 2024, because he would restore faith in the UK state, will tell us in 2029 that we will have to vote Reform to stop the dangerous radicalism of the Green Party. observer.co.uk/news/national/…

@DannyParkins Next step is to actually have an independent baseball governing body oversee it and not the MLB puppet that is WBC.

The WBC was a tremendous success and it’s genuinely moving how much it clearly means to the Venezuelan team. Also, it’s amazing Salvy Perez is still catching big time baseball games. A no-doubt Hall of Famer. Such a legend.

USL L2 is clubs which largely use university students playing summer football as amateurs. It’s a fun league to watch but this feels nothing more than fluff. Premiership clubs linking with USL L1/Champ clubs makes good sense to get best academy players out there in summer.
