@LukeStephens @LegacyKillaHD I can’t lie mate, this reads exactly how it sounds and I think you made a mistake and are now backtracking because not everyone agrees with you. Be careful with your words because they can hurt when you’re flippant.

@LegacyKillaHD I predicted after the preview that this is one that game journalists will loathe. There is zero hand holding and even at the preview event I witnessed several journalists from big outlets getting stuck in the tutorial puzzle for 45 plus minutes...

Uhhh Is this going to be one of those games critics don't like it but users love it? These Crimson Desert review scores are not great so far... 🙃

Problem with the way story is told, I’m struggling to see why I should bother. If I’m not gonna be able to get the best loot possible WHEN I’m free, I’ll play an indie game about digging out of prison with a spoon.

This will fall on deaf ears because YouTube will be filled with videos of builds and Twitch will have regular streamers, leaving the players who would put more money into the game by the sidelines. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great game, but between this and the other glaring…

Bad move Bungie. This is the same FOMO BS you created with Destiny 2 and I hate it. I’ve got 3 kids and love your game but I’m not about to dedicate every weekend evening to just Marathon, there are plenty of indies out there that respect my time more.

@DoorJacque3701 @HomieSanto Not gonna lie, I love the sound of all this! I know it’s not for everyone but it’s also not designed so it can be quickly played, have guides and videos made about it within 24 hours, and then forgotten. 200 hours in the same world is such great value for money!

I’ve noticed a pattern; when a decent game comes out that expects you to be curious, to be observant and to pay attention, a lot of tourists-turned-reviewers are the first to rage quit, refund, or low-grade that game. Some games aren’t for everyone, but I’m starting to think the pattern is made pretty clear by those who say they don’t like yellow paint, but absolutely need it.

After wasting 20 minutes slamming his head into a boss with nothing but starter gear, Phil concludes that Crimson Desert is not a good game and rage quits.

@Jamie_JSJ Transparently most of the work will be for Aus/NZ creators; however, we are open to working with international guests if the opportunity calls for it :)

@manfightdragon @GenePark It’s every game. If games journalists don’t like it, it must be great! If games journalists do like it, it must be bad or paid shills. If community is hyped and doesn’t meet expectations, it must be people just don’t get it. Same cycle every time.

With Cryo Archive out I can soon be done with Marathon for its review! So…if you’ve got a sweet-ass indie game, I want to see it! Yell at me if yours is out this year because I want to spread hope for games coming out in 2026!

@MikeStrawMedia Again. That’s the nature of your work, not asking you to change. Anonymity is important. I don’t have a suggestion for a solution but while it’s this way it’s too easy for devs and pubs to internally change and make it look like a story was false.

@MikeStrawMedia For what it’s worth, I’ve never thought of the site as an embargo breaker or anything like that. While I generally trust the reporting, it’s hard to put 100% faith in it all with “sources” so often being anonymous…

Kind of a long post, but bear with me: The last two months, I have gone on great trips and met with some great people at DICE and GDC. However, through it all, one thing that stood out the most was this stigma that exists regarding Insider Gaming. Because of the nature of our work—exclusive and insider news—there's a belief within the industry that Insider Gaming doesn't respect embargoes or NDAs. That couldn't be further from the truth. Throughout my career, I've held embargoes and NDAs with the highest respect. And, as executive editor, I make sure our team does as well. We don't break any embargo or NDA that we're under. When we receive information that could be, we have made efforts to reach out and offer to be placed under an embargo for extra access and coverage opportunities. That's, honestly, been a 50/50 success rate. But because of the times when we move forward with the information, it turns into these claims of "no respect" and that we "don't care". I've made it a goal of mine to explain how we work at Insider Gaming and be as transparent as possible regarding our coverage and when/how we decide to post the news we do. We have improved our processes in recent years, and I feel that's been noticed. I welcome anyone and everyone who wants to have a deeper discussion about this.

@kiwitalkz Game devs don’t want to embrace it. They’re using it because investors want A.I. to succeed and they’re forcing it everywhere they possibly can to prevent the bubble bursting.

@mark_k I’d still hate it if it looked good mate. I WANT the developer’s end product, not something that looks a few miles away from their artistic vision.
