A significant step forward for senior citizen empowerment in India. At the “Uniting for Senior Citizens Empowerment” Summit (7 April 2026, India International Centre, New Delhi), @vayah_vikas launched its Delhi-NCR Chapter, marking the start of a more coordinated national movement. Chief Guest Shri Bharat Lal, Secretary General & CEO, NHRC, highlighted the urgent need for stronger support systems rooted in dignity, rights, and inclusion, and called for greater collaboration to ensure healthcare, social security, and legal protection for seniors. The Delhi-NCR Chapter will be led by Shri Amit Yadav, IAS (Retd.), former Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, who emphasized building an inclusive regional network, driving actionable programs, and enabling seniors to actively shape policy and practice. Ms Gauri Kumar, IAS (Retd.), Founding Board Member, Vayah Vikas, reflected on the organization’s 5-year journey—how a group of committed seniors came together with a shared vision to give a voice to the voiceless—and underscored the need to now expand across geographies to truly represent seniors across India. With leadership from Dr @JamunaRavi8 (CEO) and Shankar Ranganathan (Head of Operations), and a panel on “Collaborative Ecosystem for Senior Citizens” moderated by Ms Pavithra Reddy (COO), the summit reinforced one message: collective action is the way forward. This is not just an event. It is the beginning of a unified effort to build a more inclusive and dignified future for India’s seniors. #VayahVikas #SeniorCitizens #ActiveAgeing #ElderCare #SocialImpact @kris_sg
