Are you constantly focused on what people think of you, always re-playing conversations in your mind, and do you notice every change in someone's emotional state? This is called hypervigilance:

Yes, I officially retract my 2006 Finite Pool of Worry hypothesis. Data more consistent with Johnson & Tversky 1983 Affect Generalization. But we find a Finite Pool of Attention and Action!
Global Environmental Change@GEC_Journal

Sisco et al use the COVID-19 pandemic to test the Finite Pool of Worry Hypothesis. They find that as #pandemic worry increased, attention to #ClimateChange decreased but worry did not. Read more in GEC 🌍: doi.org/10.1016/j.gloe…

Hi all, I am looking for a recent paper assessing whether messaging/informing about multiple vs. single pro-environmental behaviors is more beneficial. I think it published was in the Journal of Environmental Psych but I can't find it. @CameronBrick @kristiansn89 @adrianbruegger

@Chadfisher84 @DallasSybarite @georgehahn My daughter went to NYC. Came back w COVID. Didn’t know it till a few days latter after she gave it to her dad and I. No masks. We had light symptoms because we’d been vaxed. So you’re but ppl don’t know if they have it. Less need for masks now for most.

@DallasSybarite @georgehahn It is probably more important that you spend your effort to convince them to be vaccinated and boosted. You may need different tactics for those who are vs are not vaccinated and boosted.

@georgehahn Okay, but I live in Texas where a lot of folks believe exactly that. How do you explain to them how masks work for viruses when other seemingly impervious fabrics can’t contain flatulent air? Viruses are smaller, so I see their point. Legitimately asking how to explain quickly.

It's been 10 years since I got my PhD. So I few scattered reflections on things I've come to realise over the years, which I hope might be useful to others starting out...

I have seen news articles about a policy poll Musk posted . I saw no poll where I could participate. Would I have to have followed him to vote? Or was I not randomly selected. I’ve seen no reported response rate. It sounds more like creating the illusion of democracy,

We recently published a paper on the implications of shrinking household sizes for meeting climate targets. We show that reversing the trends around household sizes and economic growth alongside other interventions will be key to reduce emissions in rich countries / thread
