According to new research, volunteering has fallen to a record low. At the same time, people signing up to @reachvolunteer is at a record high. Volunteering is vitally imp, esp for small orgs so it’s worth unpicking this a bit. A 🧵

Here are just some headlines from the last 2 days: Kerala: 19 killed, hundreds trapped as rain triggers landslides in Wayanad Shimla: Heavy rainfall triggers landslide on Shimla- highway, 1 dead Gujarat: 65 dead in rain-related incidents Himachal: 56 killed in rain-related incidents since onset of monsoon, loss of ₹410 crore And we still think it's ok to mess with river drainage, cut down trees, cut into mountains?

We are at a point where Israelis can slaughter civilians in Gaza and the West Bank with total impunity. This is worse than what we saw in apartheid South Africa and Rhodesia. The closest analogue is the European colonization of the Americas, where killing was done for sport and resistance was annihilated.
