Do any cattlemen out there have opinion on whether or not you could graze yearlings in these strips of clover? Using e collars, maybe assign a smaller number of cattle to each strip to avoid crowding? Use the headlands as a common area for watering and across the field a group of 5 or 6 steers each has their own lane. Im thinking it would only work in a corn/clover system. I think they' be to tempted to reach and graze soybeans next to the clover.

@freshy1973 Love these graphs! Explains in the US why there has been huge consolidation in the dairy industry. Now the 2000 cow dairymen feel they can’t effectively compete with the 10,000 cow dairy. Love X for these insights/discussions.

While you are eating your muesli this morning ponder this graph. Broiler chooks are the only thing that genetically has constantly beat inflation for a long time. Pretty sobering if you're a sheep and beef cocky - also a massive wake up call to make big changes!

@FredVLarsen We can plant winter rye into dormant alfalfa for spring grazing. And then graze the alfalfa after it recovers! So many synergy’s, I love it! Please keep posting your experiments!

@FredVLarsen I really like your system! We have a hole in our grazing program in late March-April. Last couple of years we have been planting triticale after corn silage for the sheep to graze. After listening to your podcast with John Kempf and reading your posts here on X it clicked.

@FredVLarsen You have inspired me to plant winter rye into my alfalfa stands to graze with sheep in the spring! Thank you for putting your trials out there for us to see!

@jasonmauck1 @PfanstielJunior @AcresUSA Acres podcast just released an interview with Will Winters and he talked about taking an indoor hog operation to a pasture situation. I didn’t realize how much biosecurity was involved in raising pork.

@PfanstielJunior @AcresUSA open feeder pig setup Set next to a lot of straw bales. Idea would be to feed a set of pigs from May - November outside an make a bunch of compost

If you had some clover underneath, this would be an interesting system in the summer. Drill pearl millet, sunflowers, and sun hemp a graze down with cattle. Notice all the bales in the background. This is a slide from Jordan Green at the @AcresUSA conference. Compost could be spread in season with alley way corn
