Shocking news: travel ball parents are ruining youth baseball. Let’s be better, please. Today at our 14U @PastimeBaseball tournament in Louisville, ADULTS from Nashville spent five innings heckling our Canadian team, flipping off & chirping players and coaches, and yelling, “This is how it’s done in AMERICA!”, among other frankly embarrassing and gross remarks. Then our guys hung a 7-spot in the fifth, coming back from 3-0, won 7-4, and suddenly the stands got pretty quiet. Except for a mother flipping the double bird to a 14 year old on the way out! I won’t namedrop the org as I respect their coaching staff and I’m sure this isn’t a reflection of them, but wow. Not sure when this all became more about dad in the stands (and their views on Canada??) than the kids on the field, but I fear we’ve lost our way. These are adults, by the way - fully grown man-children feeling the need to bully kids. Let’s get back to the basics, please. Let the kids enjoy their game.
