Y’all, got a tattoo! The idea that inspired this, was an excerpt from 2 poems by @JarodAnderson, “Death also blooms”, and “Your skull is a garden where fact flowers into meaning”.

@pattonoswalt Young people love Jon Voight… said nobody.

@unejulez @CryptoNature Sincerely glad you're enjoying them.

@TSougstad People loving each other versus people loving a thing designed to evoke an affection response is a fraught comparison. I have no problem with an AI companion being available. I have a problem with that product competing for money/rights when it doesn't have actual human needs.
English

@Tinker_Radish Right. By definition, AI can only pretend to do it. That distinction doesn't matter to corporations who are solely focused on increasing profit, but it should absolutely matter to those of us they expect to buy their products.
English

@JarodAnderson Your books of poetry have meant so much to me for the past couple of years, and I'm so glad to hear you also take this stance against AI. I want art to be what we do to connect as humans, to acknowledge pieces of our own observations about the world. AI cannot do that.
English

@TSougstad I don't see that as possible or even remotely likely. AI isn't alive. Machines are, literally, not people. Programs designed to reap/imitate other people's work and then exploit it to make corporations money are not in any sense comparable to a marginalized group of human beings.
English

@pinescorch Thank you. Sincerely appreciate your support.
English

@JustinLaloGibbs Yup. That should do it. I can't wait to shed my empathy and become like an isolated dragon guarding my pile of gold.
English

@JarodAnderson If it helps I just remembered I only have your first poetry collection and I need to go order the other two. Surely that will get you up to one didactic ghost.
English

This poem appears in my third poetry collection, Leaf Litter (available Dec 6 2023).
