We're thrilled to announce partnerships with some outstanding #schooljournalism programs. Please take a moment to check out some of the terrific stories these student journalists have been writing:
@shmick I hear you. Did the same thing with a 70s Austin mini. Even after all the work and upgrades sold it recently for 30% profit over what went into it.
I like shopping at @costcocanada but when they mess up it’s near impossible to get help from them. Their support only works in form letters without giving any actual help.
.@awscloud fixed one of the biggest issues for years in securing origins behind cloudfront (Restricting access to your endpoints) - no more parsing ip ranges, security group overruns or putting custom headers in a waf: aws.amazon.com/about-aws/what….
@saila@heretohinder@shmick The web has taken an energy efficient approach out of necessity. Web sites optimized for lower bandwidth and mobile networks, use less power.
Most power hungry apps in the cloud aren't web related - they're back end things the web itself never sees - mining crypto, HPC, etc..
@heretohinder@shmick Could we have been less greedy with the computing power, for example? (asks the old man who remembers building entire websites smaller than most of the images used for avatars these days)
I wonder if we would have made different choices about how we built today’s internet if we had a better way to see, in a way that this does for #Web3, the energy waste we were creating when moving everything to the cloud… buff.ly/3pZJqSO
@rswitzer had tickets too -trying to sell them on stub hub with little luck. I think a lot of people are bailing with latest Covid numbers coming out...
@shmick Retire - enter those sweater vest years with gusto. Make terrible puns. Enjoy a good pair of loafers. I believe in you!
And media tech does suck some times - I have been having the same thoughts lately
