Treasure Island Police Officer Funck loves connecting with the Treasure Island community and neighboring cities. She did just that again on Friday by attending the Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge’s Bikes for Books ceremony at Seminole Elementary School. Officer Funck spent the morning teaching students about bike safety and personally fitting the winners with brand-new helmets and safety lights for their rides. The Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge helped make dreams come true by donating shiny new bikes to the top two boy and girl readers in grades K–5 through its Bikes for Books program. Every winner went home with a brand-new bike, a helmet, and a safety light. It was a great example of communities coming together — Treasure Island, Madeira Beach, and Seminole — to put smiles on kids’ faces while encouraging reading and safe biking.

Today, on Police Officers Memorial Day, all of us here at the Treasure Island Police Department take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting and serving their communities. Your courage, dedication, and selflessness will always be remembered. Fortunately, TIPD has never lost anyone in the line of duty.   To the families of those who wore the badge and have lost loved ones, TIPD stands with you and appreciates the legacy of love and service your loved ones left behind. To our current TIPD officers and their families: thank you for answering the call and stepping into uncertainty, allowing our residents to live in safety and peace.   We remember. We honor. We thank you.

Helene may have knocked us down for a bit, but the Sunset is about to return to the Sunset Beach Pavilion! After suffering heavy damage from Hurricane Helene, the Sunset Beach Pavilion has been restored and is almost ready to shine again. The city is kicking things off with a Grand Re-Opening Celebration on Thursday, June 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. Get ready for live music, food trucks, dancing, stunning beach views, and a treasure chest of fun! This isn’t just a reopening; it’s a comeback story. One of Treasure Island’s most beloved spots is officially back!
