After the league exposed his predictability late last season, @ArdenZwelling explains how Brendon Little has rebuilt his arsenal and approach to bring power, unpredictability, and a much-needed north-south balance back to the mound. sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/ho…

@DuxburyCarole Been in and around sports and broadcasting for much of my career. I’ve never heard it before. Not once.
English

@JasonBell1966 They are required to; you hear this all the time on sports shows (F1, Sail GP etc.) the hosts have to apologise to comply with broadcasting regulations & avoid heavy fines from regulatory bodies, my fave phrase is "sorry for any industrial language you may have heard" 😂
English

@JasonBell1966 He was just being respectful to those who are watching that have different values. It is people like you who try and turn nothing into something. Sorry if it upset you🤦♀️

@sportswildwind @JasonBell1966 It’s not a protest and it’s not on purpose. They forget they’re wearing a mic. They’re professional athletes trying to win so their focus is on the game. Source: I am friends with a number of Canadian professional curlers. So this isn’t a guess or my opinion, it’s fact.
English

@JasonBell1966 They may get fined by the Crtc. And he knows kids are also watching. He is a class act.
English

@sportswildwind I don’t believe that’s the case. I’ve spoken to enough players who have been mic’d up to know they aren’t even thinking about it. Their focus is obviously on other things.
English

@JasonBell1966 There was a time where players made even the slightest attempt to not curse but now they do it as some sort of protest against being mic'ed. In some cases obviously on purpose.
English

@Derek7490 @Kathlee23178046 I couldn’t disagree more. The real insight comes from these athletes in high-pressure moments, and the emotions that follow. The commentary from Joanne, Cathy, Russ and Vic is secondary. But that’s just me.
English

@Kathlee23178046 @JasonBell1966 Agreed !
I'd rather listen to the broadcasters than the athletes.
If necessary, they can have mics set up around the house to pic up conversation there.
English

@rivercitybum I heard plenty of cursing at the Brier, and Vic didn’t offer any apologies then.
English

@JasonBell1966 It’s not a “double standard” when it’s 2 different people reporting to 2 different employers. Is it a “double standard” because the opinion writers for the Winnipeg Free Press and the Winnipeg Sun come to different conclusions based on the same set of facts?
English

@rivercitybum Thanks, Bob. I’m aware. It’s about the double standard.
English

@JasonBell1966 Vic wasn’t part of the Olympic broadcast. He isn’t bound by what Bruce Rainnie did or didn’t do.
