@skumWgmi I could buy a home in my crappy home town for about 1.5 years wages. You'd have to pay me twice that much to live there.

I calculated how many hours I'd have to work at my job to buy a house in my hometown. In 1985: 4 years of full-time wages. Today: 27 years. I didn't get lazy the math got criminal

@DeekUsa @AnechoicMedia_ You are 100% spot on there that its not proportionate. But different enforcement bodies and groups react to risk assessment different and often it is not proportionate nor even logical. See this a lot in cybersecurity.

@JasonCa22854650 @AnechoicMedia_ I mean sure, but if I go 80 on the freeway I get a ticket that can easily be reduced or just paid and I'm allowed to carry on in the same exact vehicle that moment, but a laser pointer to a plane with no verifiable accidents leads to literal prison. It's not proportionate.

@DeekUsa @AnechoicMedia_ My logic is spot on in your example. The faster you go over the speed limit, the more risk and the higher penalty because of that increased risk. It's why the punishment increases the more over the speed limit you go, to a point you could be charged with reckless driving and jail

@JasonCa22854650 @AnechoicMedia_ Sure but by this logic speeding on the freeway should be treated like attempted murder because the potential impact will almost certainly be fatal and the probability increases each mile per hour over the speed limit

@AnechoicMedia_ So a couple of things. Risk is probability x impact. Even with low probability, impact is MASSIVE. Respond accordingly. Also car jackings aren't a federal offense. Different courts, different prosecutors, etc.

One argument is that a plane has many people at risk, but objectively, this activity isn't that deadly as zero planes have crashed from it. So the equivalent threat level of pointing a gun at someone in an armed robbery is probably a comparable danger. And in any case, not an argument for going lightly on armed robbery.

This is what it sounds like living next to a data center. The video below was recorded at midnight, and the data center is situated next to 100s of residential homes.

@TheEXECUTlONER_ They merged way too soon and are causing a back up that is much longer than it should be. Both lanes should stack and merge together.

This guy is using the left hand lane , which is open. There is a mile long backup and everyone is over in the right hand lane. He drives all the way up until he has to merge. Some people are saying what a jerk he is for not getting in line like everyone else, but a great many people are saying that the cars in the right lane merged into one lane too soon and that if they had used the left lane, instead of being a mile backup it would have been a half a mile backup. What’s your take? Do you think he was correct in using the left lane and merging up at the front or should he have merged right and got in line way in the back like everyone else?

@shegone03 @D1Softball HR rate for softball is .61 per game. For baseball its 1.16. More likely to change the BPF of the bats (1.15 vs .5 of BBCOR) before you move fences. Aren't you a hitting "guru"?

@WIBWAndrew @WIBWsports @KSPrepZone Absolutely. K-State has a great complex. Washburn being brand new is also an excellent option. JCCC baseball complex would probably suffice as well.

FYI: KU could host an NCAA Regional at Hoglund. We’ll know May 24. 📍 KSHSAA state baseball is also scheduled there. 🗣️ KSHSAA told me today an alternate site at another college is secured if KU hosts. High schools have been informed. @WIBWsports @KSPrepZone

🇺🇸 The American Culturist 🇺🇸
Moral and cultural relativism is, at its heart, anti-West. Whatever barbarism existed in 16th-century Europe paled in comparison to the evil the Aztecs reveled in. King Charles I of Spain wasn’t feeding his soldiers the limbs of those they defeated in battle. Pope Leo X wasn’t dancing around in the flayed skin of virgin girls during religious ceremonies. So yes, the Aztecs were evil, and their conquest by Western civilization was in fact good.

This doesn’t even make sense. What a simplistic view. You can condemn sacrifice without turning Indigenous civilizations into cartoon villains. The “Aztecs were barbaric so conquest was good” argument always collapses the second you apply the same standard evenly. Human sacrifice existed in Mesoamerica. It should be talked about honestly. But Europeans arrived from a world of inquisitions, mass burnings, public torture, dynastic slaughter, religious wars, colonial extraction, and industrial-scale conquest. The idea that one side represented “civilization” and the other represented “savagery” is mostly hindsight propaganda. Guess the propaganda got to you. Also, the “Bronze Age” framing barely works here. Makes me question your understanding of the Americas. Mesoamerican societies developed under completely different environmental and material conditions. They had no large draft animals and simply different metallurgy priorities. Different trade systems. Yet they still built massive cities, hydraulic engineering, aqueduct’s, astronomy, mathematics, calendars, causeways, market systems, and state networks that stunned Europeans on contact. You don’t have to romanticize the Aztecs to admit the “primitive savage rescued by Europe” framing is historically shallow.

@MericaCulture Indigenous cultures were savage and brutal. The held slaves and traded women for blankets. The tortured captive till it became an art form, ate their enemies hearts in front of of their dying eyes and killed men, women and children without mercy. All cultures are not the same.
