I am incredibly grateful to the people of Croydon for placing their trust in me once again. Four years ago, I was elected to help rescue a borough that had been broken by bankruptcy, instability and failure. Together, we have stabilised the Council, restored discipline and begun rebuilding pride in Croydon. There is still much more to do, but today’s result is a clear vote to keep Croydon moving forward. This borough is my home. I was born here, went to school here, built my business here and raised my family here. It remains the greatest privilege of my life to serve the people of Croydon as your Mayor.

South Norwood Country Park is for everyone to enjoy, and we are taking action to keep it that way. Working with the Met Police, Thames Reach and council teams, we have cleared three encampments, issued a Community Protection Warning, removed large amounts of waste, and restored areas of the park, including near the children’s play area. Several abandoned vehicles were also identified in a nearby road, including one that had been reported stolen and was recovered during the operation. We will continue supporting those who need it, whilst taking a zero tolerance approach to antisocial behaviour. I am committed to keeping Croydon’s parks clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.

Local black cab drivers told me that being unable to access Croydon’s School Streets was causing problems. I listened, and we’ve acted. Licensed black cabs can now access them across the borough. Our new Motorists’ Forum will keep drivers’ voices at the heart of decision-making.

When residents at the East Croydon Community Organisation (ECCO) AGM told me Cherry Orchard Road and Lower Addiscombe Road needed more litter bins, I listened. We have now installed four new litter bins at key locations, with two further locations already identified. It was also great to visit our Grounds Maintenance depot and see the new litter bins that have been earmarked for our parks and open spaces. These will help replace damaged bins, ensuring our parks remain clean, safe and welcoming for everyone. This is all part of my wider commitment to cleaner streets, better parks and listening to residents by taking action on the issues that matter most.

When I met traders on London Road in April, they told me they had had enough of the constant fly-tipping at the junction of Colliers Water Lane and London Road, which was blighting the lives of businesses, shoppers and local residents. Following that visit, CCTV was installed at this hotspot, and it is now capturing those responsible in the act. Now we need your help to catch them. Recognise the flytippers? 🛡️ Green Spaces Trilogy | Part 3 of 3 Following recent visits to Wandle Park and Duppas Hill Rec, I have seen first-hand the impact of tents, rough sleeping and antisocial behaviour in some of our parks. Parkguard is now carrying out dedicated patrols at Duppas Hill Rec, Wandle Park and Waddon Ponds, whilst we continue working with partners to support those in need. We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to antisocial behaviour. We are also exploring a borough-wide Public Spaces Protection Order for our parks to strengthen enforcement. We are proud of our 127 parks and open spaces and are committed to keeping them clean, green and safe for everyone. 🌳🛡️

It was great to meet Friends of Groups from across Croydon to discuss new playgrounds, outdoor gyms, major park projects and bringing more park buildings back into community use.
