In one picture, this is friendship...something we pastors often talk about but don't regularly give or receive with no strings attached. The kind of "I am in this with you" vibe that inexplicably buoys everything that feels like it is fading/drowning. My friend @timchristoson -in front of his gracious church in Howell, MI during their two morning services-prayed this past Sunday with unsolicited fervor and faith over my family with our #healthforlandon journey long after we feel like we have the right to keep asking for it. As we settle into our few days here in Denver filled with yet another round of tests and appointments, I can still feel that gracious, steadying hand on my shoulder (and many others before his)...truly a hand-picked-by-God expression of His abiding presence in my life. In my reading this morning, I was struck by this timely thought from the Psalmist that it was ultimately not Tim but God Himself who stood with me on that stage/stands with me now: Ps 54:4b "...the Lord is with them the uphold my soul." Lord, thank you for the Tim's back home/all over in my life! Help me to be that Tim for others even today!

"My son only tried to rob you, and you took his life, that was an abuse of force, YOU must pay for this" A veteran, home alone, has 3 armed thugs break into his house, and he eliminates all 3 with multiple shots to the head and chest. Using the same logic her now dead son used when he decided to arm himself and rob people, the black woman feels the veteran should be charged with murder and sentenced to death for protecting his own life and home from her thug offspring. It's YOUR problem her son was fatally unsuccessful, and you must pay. The solution to imprison the homeowner is black logic.

We enjoyed some meaningful time with Ian this week in New Jersey…we are so proud of/grateful for the godly young man he is becoming! We parted ways this morning with Heidi and Landon remaining in New Jersey for more appointments, Ian headed back to Florida for college, and me (without all my normally-required-coffee-before-any-pics 😂) returning home to Ohio for a few days of ministry.

"I wanted you to know I love you, miss you, wish I could take your pain for you, and am so proud of you." These are the bittersweet, emotionally raw words that I just texted to my dear son Landon who turned 18 today. #healthforlandon While this important day is not everything I would wish for my precious son, it is no way diminishes how special, sweet, and persistent he is...not just in my eyes but the eyes of all who know him as well as his Heavenly Father. While he is just now considered an "adult," I have seen unmistakable, stirring glimpses of this God created/developed maturity and depth long before July 26, 2025. Landon, if you read this someday in the future, please know that your dad and mom fully believe right now-even after four years of struggle for answers and the recent five long months of therapy-that someday sooner than it feels that FULL SMILE OF YOURS WITHOUT NUMBNESS AND PAIN IS COMING BACK BETTER THAN EVER! I love you, Bud, more than my tear-dampened fingers and voice can put into words right now as I watch many of your peers (that we also love and are rejoicing with) moving towards the simple, assumed joys of cars, jobs, relationships, college, and career that have to seem so far away for you. So I humbly point you and the many sympathetic souls who long for a breakthrough in your body/life to the only words that really matter in prolonged seasons of suffering like this-God's tangibly healing, hope-fueling Word: 2 Kings 20:5 "...I have HEARD THY PRAYERS, I have SEEN THY TEARS: behold, I WILL HEAL THEE."
