Oil & USD strength matter, but they don’t explain everything. BoC rate gaps vs the Fed drove outflows, while Trudeau deficits, pipeline cancellations & carbon taxes crushed energy investment — weakening the CAD beyond what oil prices justified. Markets price politics: fiscal recklessness gets a risk premium. The loonie’s decade-long underperformance vs other petrocurrencies proves it — domestic policy turns external shocks into lasting damage. Currency markets aren’t immune to bad governments.

@JasonRadtke5 @ShitzN_Giggles @realretroguy Canada’s dollar mostly tracks oil prices and U.S. dollar strength. Over the last decade we had the 2014 oil crash, COVID, and a strong USD cycle. Governments influence policy, but they don’t control global commodities or capital flows. Currency markets are bigger than politics.

@west_coaster78 @ShitzN_Giggles @realretroguy So you are saying it was the UK government that created the weak pound? So who is responsible for the Canadian dollar weakness over the last decade?

@ShitzN_Giggles @realretroguy Well, you said, “Carney was always a believer in a strong dollar. The slow decline came after he left in 2013.” But as I just showed you, it’s not true, and his past poor performance affects all Canadians.

@ShitzN_Giggles @realretroguy Great, if he’s such an expert, can you explain why the British pound did the opposite of what you are saying he did in Canada during his stint at the Bank of England? - Start (2013): ~1.56 GBP/USD - End (March 2020): ~1.28 GBP/USD Net drop: ~18%

If Carney stealing a majority government with floor crosses doesn't super charge Independence, then I know nothing about politics.

The idea of Alberta independence is only “extreme” if you ignore history. Norway left Sweden. Slovakia left Czechoslovakia. Ireland left the UK. Borders have changed throughout history. Alberta independence is not some absurd idea. It is part of a normal historical pattern.

Alberta separatists make me laugh. Alberta is treaty land. All of it. Treaties with the crown that existed BEFORE the creation of Alberta. Alberta is going nowhere.

Only a bump in the road people They haven't even started to fight yet and more attacks will come. They will spend billions and throw everything at us to impede Alberta's sovereignty. Every fight, every bump in the road and every challenge overcome only strengthens our resolve. we are on the right side of history, a better future awaits. Buckle up, this will be the fight of our lives. Alberta Independence is the way #LiveFree

His wife fled Canada to save her life from stage 4 ovarian cancer 2.5 years ago. Canada said assisted su1c1de (MAID) was her only "option" Wanna guess how she is doing now that she has proper healthcare in the USA?

@AndrewLawton She's trying to delete/scrub this this a.m. here you go; I downloaded it knowing she'd try. So I'm ensuring it's reviewed/seen so Canadians can decide what the next step is

A lot of people say 🇨🇦 is broken, but that’s not true. Where else can a company blacklisted for bribery change its name, & get a contract to build a high-speed rail for 3x the normal cost? … between two cities with shrinking populations, that have more seniors than children.

@furmsies Why would Alberta gaining independence destroy the entire country? If that's the case, Alberta must be the only thing that holds the country together, yet we have virtually no say in who governs Canada and we are blocked from improving our own province by developing our resources
