Graduation rates are not the whole picture when we see students so far behind in proficiency. Proficiency rates tell us kids are less prepared for their next steps. This is an alarming trend, and we must keep it in my mind as we consider our final Education bills. #mnleg

#MNleg adjourned with a lot of work left to do. Working groups are tasked with determining final bill language, then a special session will be called. If deals are not reached, bills will be decided by the governor and a small group of leaders. This is a breakdown of the process.

As many people know, the legislature adjourned this week before we were able to get all of our budget issues taken care of. And the blame game is happening.

The regular legislative session has come to an end, and the announcement of a special session is imminent. While a handful bills got passed by our constitutional adjournment day of May 19, many were left undone. Most of our largest budget bills are still left on the table.

JUST IN: 8th Circuit Court of Appeals rules Minnesota absentee ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on election night in order to be counted. Court rules, "Simply put, the Secretary (of State) has no power to override the Minnesota Legislature.

As a follow-up to a question I asked on an MDH call last week, they got back to me on latest stats on how many Minnesotans who’ve died of COVID-19 had a significant underlying health condition. The current numbers are 94% yes; 4% unknown and 2% no. About 70% in long-term care.
